Apex Legends Season 1

Apex Legends Kicks Off Its First Season With New Weapon Skins And Legend

The shooter known as Apex Legends has come a long way since launch. EA and Respawn Entertainment went from shadow dropping the game, to growing a decent size player-base, to now rolling into the first official season for the franchise. The Wild Frontier launches today across all available platforms. The launch brings new weaponry and a new selectable legend, Octane.

Something New For You

There’s a lot to unpack from the most recent trailer regarding the launch of Season 1: The Wild Frontier. In the overview trailer, you’ll see quite a few additions to the Kings Canyon map many have grown accustomed to. We had initially reported on random bounce pads appearing within the game during matches this last weekend. These have become more front-facing, as they are now officially live in the game.

Another thing you’ll notice is new weapon skins thrown into the mix. One of these is the Silver Storm legendary Havoc skin. It sports a fiery blue flame color and a chrome top. The other is the Golden Idol skin for the same gun. Instead of blue and chrome elements, it holds a blistering golden shine and greenish-yellow flames.

What’s The Cost?

Buying the season battle pass will cost you 950 in-game coins. Buying 1,000 of these will run you about $9.99. If you purchase the bundle, which is 2,800 in-game coins, you’ll get the battle pass “plus unlock your next 25 levels for Season 1 instantly” according to the official site.

There are “100 unique items throughout the season” that Respawn Entertainment has planned for this inaugural season.

New Legend

As it stands, Apex Legends currently has a roster of nine selectable characters. Recent leaks pointed to a new character coming to the game — and it looks like they were spot on. Octane will now join the cast of playable legends. You can see him in action in the battle pass trailer. However, EA and Respawn Entertainment also launched a gameplay video showcasing some of his abilities.

Immediately you’ll recognize that Octane has some visible speed and the ability to make impressive leaps with his set of mechanized legs. And, lo and behold, those bounce pads that made their recent appearances are his ultimate ability. Octane’s passive ability will allow you to heal on the run, something that does take you out of combat with other legends.

The Apex Legends Season 1: The Wild Frontier battle pass is now available on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The official site for the game has also received an update with more details regarding the pass and what you can expect in the near future.
