BG3 character creation area is discoverable through an out-of-bounds glitch

Someone on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit shared their discovery that probably no other player has found. This BG3 player accidentally glitched out of bounds and into the character creation area. While you may have thought the area that you create your character in at the very start of the game is its own world, it’s close to the Astral Plane.

BG3 players seem to love discovering secrets, such as the secret passage by the Water Queen’s House. “Secret-Outside-4604” was able to be forced out of bounds due to a strange glitch at the cost of their save file. While in the Astral Plane, where you speak with the Guardian, if you experience a certain glitch you can go out of bounds just enough to find the character creation area.

It’s the same area that you’re in when you’re first creating your character, and probably just nearby is the area you create your Guardian. Seeing as you create your Guardian in an area that looks like the Astral Plane, I’m not surprised to see these two areas placed inside the Astral Plane.

While Larian Studios never intended for players to figure this out, it’s a cool discovery for people who are interested in how game spaces are crafted. Although this player lost their save file, they were fortunately at the start of the game anyway, so it doesn’t matter too much.

Some of the replies are gawking at the cool discovery, while others are explaining how this was shown off in an out-of-bounds YouTube video. The YouTuber Shesez is widely popular for finding out-of-bounds secrets in games, BG3 being just one of many.

Even though some players have already known about this finding, it’s still cool to see players stumble upon glitches like this that show some neat out-of-bounds mysteries and secrets. Speaking of rare findings, one BG3 player ended up discovering a rare letter from Alfira to the Dark Urge.
