Whether playing as a team or going solo, it is always best to know your enemies and environment. The beauty of Helldivers 2 is that your builds can be more or less shared, so the real technique to get the best of the game is to have a variety. Here are a selection of the best builds.
FUBAR Build
My squadmates hate me playing this build because it is absolutely, definitely going to kill every Helldiver in the room. This build is designed to be the best at massive area damage and rain hell on the enemies without prejudice.
- Primary – SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary
- Secondary – P-19 Redeemer
- Grenade – G-16 Impact
- Strategems – Flamethrower, Orbital 380MM HE Barrage, Eagle 500KG Bomb, EMS Mortar Sentry
Using this build in Helldivers 2, you have the best chance of doing maximum damage over a huge radius. I love the sheer, unadulterated hellfire from the gods, and this build certainly provides. Just make sure to warn your teammates any time you use any of your Stratagems because they’re going to obliterate everything in an enormous radius. Unlock the Exploding Shrapnel ship module for even more area damage with this build in Helldivers 2.
Don’t expect to come out of your missions with anything lower than a few thousand in team damage with this one.
Bunker build
Defense is often the best offense, and with the right build in Helldivers 2, you can lock down for yourself and your squad. This build focuses on keeping you, your team, and your Stratagems offensively defensive.
- Primary – AR-23P Liberator Penetrator
- Secondary – P-19 Redeemer Pistol
- Grenade – G-12 High Explosive
- Stratagems – Autocannon Sentry, Guard Dog Rover, Shield Generator Pack, Incendiary Mines
This Helldivers 2 build is best for keeping enemies at bay using the Sentry, Mines, and Shield Generator. The beauty of the shield is that you and your squad can hide in it, deploying sentries within the confines and still shoot out. The quickest way a Sentry is destroyed is by being run over by a charging enemy. With the shield, this is no longer an issue.
The build also makes the most of Mines to prevent anything from getting too close in Helldivers 2. Using the Liberator Penetrator ensures decent enough knockback to hold everything at bay.
Overwatch Build
Wading through the blood and gore of fallen enemies isn’t for all Helldivers. Some may like to keep their capes clean and instead pick off the alien scum from afar. This Helldivers 2 build focuses on long-range, stealthy warfare.
- Primary – R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper
- Secondary – P-4 Senator
- Grenade – G-3 Smoke
- Stratagems – Anti-Material Rifle, Spear, Orbital Railcannon Strike, Eagle Smoke Strike
Unlisted here is the use of light armor with a faster reload and extra loadout. This will help you relocate in a snap when you’re spotted by a patrol. Long range and out of sight is the name of the game with the best overwatch build in Helldivers 2.
A must for any budding marksman is the Anti Material Rifle. The long-range has a devastating effect on armor and can pick out weak spots from a huge distance. Unlike a lot of heavy snipers in games, the Anti Material has a decent rate of fire, allowing you to pick out enemies in rapid succession.
Calling in the Orbital RailCannon Strike with this build is essentially the hammer of the gods. It needs to be accurate, but when it connects, even monstrous Titans will bow to your power. Once you need to relocate, it’s time to call in a Smoke Strike and disappear into the shadows.
Demolition Diver Build
Why not push your PS5 or PC to its limits by creating as much fire and rubble as humanly possible? With the Demolition build, absolutely nothing can stand in your way, and heavy armaments are your bread and Helldivers butter.

- Secondary – P-19 Redeemer Pistol
- Grenade – G-12 High Explosive
- Stratagems – EMS Mortar Sentry, Recoilless Rifle, Eagle 500KG Bomb, Grenade Launcher
The Mortar Sentry should not be used in a squad of Helldivers without first getting consent. It is going to rain hell on everything it decides is an enemy and will very often turn your squadmates to pink mist. This Helldivers 2 build is enormous amounts of fun for the sheer destructive damage of the Grenade Launcher, 500KG Bomb, and Recoilless Rifle, but it’s going to cause a lot of area damage.
This build is fantastic for clearing nests and Bot bases, but make sure you take point. Whenever I play this build, I make sure I am way out in front so that If I happen to rain fire and brimstone, I can at least warn my squadmates to stay back. This is a techier build for the explosive connoisseur.
Helldivers Marine
For the standard, boots on the ground, run and gun, marine style Helldivers build, you want the basics, but you want them well. You need firepower at perfect accuracy, minute-by-minute support, and the perfect blend of attack and defense. This is the best build for the regular Helldivers 2 player.

- Secondary – P-19 Redeemer Pistol
- Grenade – G-16 Impact
- Stratagems – Guard Dog Rover, Eagle 110MM Rocket Pods, Orbital Walking Barrage, Railgun
The Guard Dog Rover is the perfect (almost) partner on the battlefield, confidently cooking anything, including teammates, that comes too close. You need something to watch your back as you confidently march your way through the bloody viscera of your fallen enemies, dealing out justice to the heathen aliens.
The 110MM Rocket Pods and Orbital Walking Barrage have a hard-to-find accuracy in the field while not losing out on damage. I find, of all the Stratagems, I am more comfortable calling in these as danger close than any others. With the Marine Helldivers 2 build, you need to be face-to-face with the enemy, and sometimes that means risking it all for victory. Both the Rocket Pods and Walking Barrage will move across a field with their attacks, but the attack is predictable. The Railgun is just for turning huge foes into lots of small pieces of huge foes.
