According to Polygon, they have been tipped off that Treyarch and Activision would not have enough time to complete the development of a single player campaign to hit the release date. Instead, the game will focus on multiplayer and the zombie mode COD players are now faniliar with.

In a separate piece of speculation, again from a tipster according to CharlieIntel, Raven Software is working on a battle royale mode for the game which would fill the gaping hole of not having a single player campaign.

Activision has not commented on the rumours and no concrete information is due until 17 May when Activision and Treyarch will finally reveal the game in a live-streamed event. It’s no secret that Activision and other AAA publishers have been keeping an eye on the rise of battle royale and if there was one franchise that could possibly pull it off it would be Call of Duty.

BLOPS 4 will release on 12 October.
