Call of Duty Black Ops 4 may not have a campaign but could have battle royale

According to ‘sources’ Call of Duty Black Ops 4 may be missing a single player campaign but other content would fill in.

According to Polygon, they have been tipped off that Treyarch and Activision would not have enough time to complete the development of a single player campaign to hit the release date. Instead, the game will focus on multiplayer and the zombie mode COD players are now faniliar with.

In a separate piece of speculation, again from a tipster according to CharlieIntel, Raven Software is working on a battle royale mode for the game which would fill the gaping hole of not having a single player campaign.

Activision has not commented on the rumours and no concrete information is due until 17 May when Activision and Treyarch will finally reveal the game in a live-streamed event. It’s no secret that Activision and other AAA publishers have been keeping an eye on the rise of battle royale and if there was one franchise that could possibly pull it off it would be Call of Duty.

BLOPS 4 will release on 12 October.

Battle-royale cannot die fast enough. I haven’t played the CoD games since MW1, but if single-player is getting the boot in order to shoe-in battle-royale modes, I suspect Activision is going to regret it when sales aren’t anywhere near they were expecting.

You may be right but it’s the current fad that the younger audience is enjoying so it’s going to be around for a while I think.

Agreed. I am so over this fad of battle royale…it hurts to even say those two words together. Looks like I will finally quit buying anything from COD and if Activision keeps shoving their head up their ass maybe I will stop buying from them altogether. Just like I did with EA.

What a surprise. I would never have guessed they would try to shoehorn in a Battle Royale mode. Activision copies the success of others so often, I was actually surprised that COD didn’t launch with a “tiny cars playing soccer” mode back when Rocket League was the hot new thing.
