Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare requires a lot of hard drive space on PC

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare set to drop later this month, Infinity Ward wanted to make sure that PC players were ready for the action it will bring. So, over on the official Battle.net page for the game today, they revealed both the Minimum and Recommended requirements to play it at best efficiency. And, well… let’s just say it wouldn’t hurt to get that extended storage you’ve been looking at.

That’s because the game requires 175GB of hard drive space on your desktop or laptop. That’s three times the size of prior Call of Duty games (or maybe even more). It’s even higher than Red Dead Redemption 2 and Gears 5, both of which loom over the 100GB range. And for anyone who has a laptop set at around 256GB of memory… well, enjoy having your one game installed.

Here are the full specs for Modern Warfare:

Modern Warfare minimum requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit (SP1) or Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-4340 or AMD FX-6300
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon HD 7950 – DirectX 12.0 compatible system
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Storage: 175GB available hard drive space
  • Internet: Broadband Internet connection

Modern Warfare recommended requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit latest update
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X Processor
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon R9 390 / AMD Radeon RX 580 – DirectX 12.0 compatible system
  • Memory: 12GB RAM
  • Storage: 175GB available hard drive space
  • Internet: Broadband Internet connection

The memory and video cards don’t seem to be major requirements, which is a bit of a surprise considering what a visual monster Modern Warfare actually is. But that memory… It may force some players to find a solution with a possible SSD extension to keep things up and running.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ships on Oct 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
