Can you transmog gear in Starfield?

Does Starfield have transmog options to make your gear look different?

A common phrase in gaming is transmog and it simply means the ability to change the physical appearance of your armor, clothes, or weapons while keeping the stats of the piece you have equipped. In Starfield, you find a lot of weapons, armor, and clothes that look cool, but can you transmog? Here’s whether or not you can transmog in Starfield.

How to change the appearance of your armor and clothes in Starfield

So the question is can you transmog, or change the appearance of your armor, clothes, and weapons, in Starfield. And the unfortunate answer is no, you can’t transmog in Starfield.

While there are a lot of cool armors and weapons in Starfield that have high stats while also looking cool, it’s a real shame that you can’t fully customize your look with transmog options. You’re stuck with whatever the best stat armors and weapons look like.

I’m not sure why developers don’t put transmog into every game. Perhaps it’s to keep their game more realistic, but Starfield is all about player expression and choice so transmog seems like it would fit. But, just like almost every other major gameplay decision Bethesda made in Starfield, if it’s not something they did in Skyrim, then it’s not likely to be in Starfield. After all, Starfield is just Skyrim in space for better and worse.

There’s no way to change your armor, clothes, or weapon appearance in Starfield. While the developers might add transmog into Starfield in an update down the road, I highly doubt that because, notoriously, after Bethesda releases their games, they update general bugs but leave adding everything else to modders.

I would guess we’ll see transmog come to Starfield through modders which is only good news for PC players that like using mods. I’m sorry to break the news to you, but at least you can get creative with your ship design as seen in the 10 most creative ship builds we’ve seen so far.
