What are the best weapon upgrades for the Dead Space remake?

Weighted Blades for Plasma Cutter

The Remake version offers a Plasma Cutter that is similarly strong as in the 2008 version. Additional upgrades, such as the Weighted Blades, upgrade the weapon’s melee attack, forcing enemies to stagger whenever you hit them with the Plasma Cutter. Even a Brute does not stand a chance against the Weighted Blades, and this upgrade saves you if you are low on ammo or want to troll the enemies into their stagger animations. You can find this upgrade in the COMMS Maintenance locker room in Chapter 8 of the game.

Precision Lasers for Line Gun

If you’re a fan of being overpowered in Dead Space Remake, then you’ll have lots of fun with Precision Lasers. The Precision Lasers offers an increase in the number of lasers (three instead of one) for Line Gun’s alternative fire. Once you decide to use this upgrade, you can technically create a wall of lasers and watch as enemies get dismembered while they get to you. The Precision Lasers upgrade is in Chapter 10 behind the Master Override crate in the Hydroponics area.

High-Yield Grenades for the Pulse Rifle

High-Yield Grenades for the Pulse Rifle make explosions bigger and more Michael Bay-like. Larger explosions mean more damage, and more damage means bye-bye to Necromorphs. In all honesty, this is one of the best upgrades you would need if you find yourself surrounded by multiple Necromorphs since it wipes them out with one or two grenades. You can find the schematics in one of the Atrium lockers in Chapter 10.

Heat Accumulator for Plasma Cutter

Another Plasma Cutter upgrade is the Heat Accumulator. Contrary to the melee powerhouse. Weighted Blades, this upgrade causes a damage-over-time effect by setting enemies ablaze. Heat Accumulator highly reduces ammo usage due to its D.O.T. effect, and allows you to effectively micro-attack surrounding enemies. You can purchase this upgrade in Chapter 3.

Proximity Mines for Pulse Rifle

With yet another entry for the Pulse Rifle, Proximity Mines is the upgrade that you should keep an eye out for. It allows you to set up and lead enemies into your traps, effectively blowing their legs off and highly reducing their maneuverability. Hit and run should be the name of the game when it comes to this upgrade, yet the payoff is huge as you’d have fewer problems even with stronger enemies. The best part about this upgrade is that you already have it once you acquire the Pulse Rifle, as it is its default alternative fire.

Angled Launcher for Ripper

Angled Launcher allows the Ripper’s saw blades to bounce within the confinements of USG Ishimura. If your aim is not that good, you can still count on the ricocheting saw blades to cut off enemy limbs out of nowhere, consider it as a hail-mary shot. You can even aim it at the legs of Necromorphs and sometimes it will ricochet toward their heads making it lethal with just a single ammo usage. You can find this upgrade in B. Andonov’s office in the Flow Control Room in Chapter 6.

Suspension Module for Force Gun

The Force Gun finally got its time to shine as the developers decided to extremely buff this weapon. One of its exceptional upgrades is the Suspension Module, which makes a mini-blackhole that sucks in enemies toward the center while applying D.O.T. You can use this to combo with the High-Yield Grenades upgrade for Pulse Rifles, Precision Lasers for the Line Gun, and even the fabled Hand Cannon to take out hoards of enemies standing in your way. You can find this upgrade in Chapter 11 within the Cargo Bay.
