Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy – Point of the Stag ritual weapon

When it was announced that Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy would only have one ritual weapon to obtain, many fans were quite disappointed. After all, players remembered the grind to obtain pinnacle weapons such as the Mountaintop, Wendigo, Loaded Question, Breakneck, and the Recluse. These weapons have been mainstays of loadouts for a time (and the Recluse still remains a favorite).

Then, Shadowkeep introduced ritual weapons. They’re not quite as powerful as the pinnacle weapons of yore, but, hey, at least you had something to chase depending on the activity. Season of the Worthy eschewed all those previous lessons by having only one ritual weapon — only obtainable from the Iron Banner and a bow at that.

Still, the Point of the Stag just might be interesting enough. You can obtain the weapon by completing the “Smelting Light” quest line from Lord Saladin. The quest steps have already been datamined by Light.gg. Here they are:

Super Smelting:

  • 3x super kills
  • 30x players defeated
  • 10x zones captured

Clear the Cylinders:

  • 25x hand cannon final blows – use Luna’s Howl, Not Forgotten, Ace of Spades, Thorn, or Spare Rations
  • 20x zones captured
  • 6x matches completed

Heat the Barrels:

  • 20X SMG final blows – use the Recluse
  • 100x players defeated
  • 30x zones captured

Harness the Elements:

  • 15x fusion rifle final blows – use Erentil, Jotunn, or One Thousand Voices
  • 15x super kills
  • 40x zones captured
  • You should get the Point of the Stag ritual weapon to drop after completing this part.

Sharpen the Arrows:

  • 10x bow final blows – use Le Monarque or any bow; you’re not required to get kills with Point of the Stag
  • 50x zones captured
  • 15x matches completed

Note: For the weapon and super kills, you may need to complete an additional match just to get the tally to update.

Once you’re done with all the above, return to Lord Saladin and you’re with the questline. Do remember that you don’t need to do all of these in one go. The Iron Banner may last a week, but it’ll be live at least three times during the entirety of Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy.

However, as has been the case with the previous seasons, you do need to complete the questline just so you could turn in your tokens and acquire all the Iron Banner armor pieces. It’s still the old Iron Remembrance set from Destiny 2: Forsaken. I guess if there’s one thing that excites PvP players more than the disconnections and poor implementation of Trials of Osiris, it’s getting the same old weapons and armor pieces in Iron Banner.

Iron Banner pinnacle drops and rewards

Of course, the Iron Banner still has other rewards to help you in your Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy progression. You have the four weekly bounties that reward pinnacle gear, giving you more opportunities to increase your power level (PL). Here’s what we have this week:

  • Oath of the Pack – opponents defeated while assisted by teammates
  • Victory Banners – complete matches; wins add bonus progress
  • An Arsenal of Tricks – opponents defeated using abilities; super kills and higher PL Guardians provide more progress
  • The Rout – opponents defeated; higher PL Guardians provide more progress

Note: Speaking of power levels, the Iron Banner has power level advantages enabled. However, only the PL from your gear would make a difference; artifact PL increases won’t count.
