Gameplay and combat were on show at EA’s Play event and the demo gameplay below covers everything that was shown.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends‘ second season – Battle Charge – will apparently take a lot of cues from what people liked about the first one. Except more legendary-level items and fewer stat trackers in the battle pass. More importantly, though, we can expect a new Legend in the form of the defensive Wattson, who can plonk down electrified fences to slow and damage enemies and fortify a position against a rushing team.

FIFA 20

Volta, a return to street football, looks to be the big new thing in FIFA 20. Check it out below.

Madden 20

Madden 20 will let players start their journey as a college quarterback before moving into the NFL in the Face of the Franchise career mode. Gameplay-wise we can expect weekly challenges, superstar “X-Factor” abilities, team-specific plays, RPOs, and more.

Battlefield V

The Sims 4

The next expansion is revealed as Island Living and the next game pack is Realms of Magic. Good news for the Caribbean-dwelling wizards among you.

EA Play Full Event – FIFA 20, Apex Legends, Madden

The annual FIFA release is back and now there’s Volta for some street football. EA also discuss upcoming features in FIFA 20. Apex Legends and Madden were also part of the live Stream.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons

This curious action title follows the journey of a girl named Aryelle (Ary for short) as she explores the world of Valdi. Ary is the guardian of winter, meaning she can control the weather around her. While not much is revealed so far in terms of gameplay, Ary and the Secret of Seasons apparently will offer a variety of puzzles and obstacles in addition to the beat-em-up standard combat shown in the trailer.

Baldur’s Gate III

From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2, Baldur’s Gate III is the long-awaited next chapter from Larian Studios. Widely considered the greatest CRPG of all time, Baldur’s Gate 2 was leagues apart from its competition upon its release. Set in the fantasy world of Forgotten Realms with Dungeons & Dragons elements, the trailer looks epic from start to finish. It features a knight slowly transforming seemingly into a Mind Flayer, which is a telepathic humanoid with psychic powers. Larian has stated that this will be the biggest game they’ve ever worked on, and after the stellar work they’ve done with the Divinity series, that’s saying a lot.

Darksiders Genesis

As previously covered, Darksiders Genesis by THQ Nordic was leaked already via trailer. This exciting installment to the Darksiders franchise appears to be a top-down hack-and-slasher similar to Diablo in gameplay. It seems to have a couple of new twists to it, however, such as vertical elements and grappling. It will be interesting to see more about what sets Genesis apart from the rest of the genre at E3.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Stated as the final expansion for the game, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases on September 17. In this standalone offering from developers Bungie, Guardians reunite with Eris Morn on a return journey to the moon. It’s not quite in as tip-top shape as they left it, however, as a new threat looms. This new area will be double the size of the previous title’s, and it will offer brand new dungeons and quests. Shadowkeep also offers a new raid featuring the Black Garden. Fans of the series shouldn’t skip this expansion, judging from the trailer alone.

Also releasing alongside Shadowkeep is a cross-save feature. This allows players to access their characters from one account across most Destiny 2-supported platforms. In addition, Destiny 2: New Light launches as well. This serves as a free-to-play version of Destiny 2, offering all first-year content for the title. The release of New Light in concurrence with Shadowkeep is a wise decision for Bungie, attracting new players to the game free of charge.

Greedfall

Can you believe that a bunch of spiders came together and made a video game? All jokes aside, Greedfall is the new upcoming open-world role-playing game from French developer Spiders. This title appears to have a colonial theme to it, somewhat reminiscent of Avatar or Pocahontas. The story sees the player as a human caught in-between a land of elves and an invading nation looking to colonize the new land. Your character can side with either faction, and the conflict seems pretty serious. The game will feature diplomacy and stealth, on top of your traditional open-world combat. Stay tuned for more details on this one at E3.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts

From developer CI Games, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts is the newest instalment in the Sniper Ghost Warrior franchise. Set in modern-day Siberia, Russia, players assume the role of an assassin-for-hire and complete contracts. Contracts focuses heavily on far-range sniper combat, and this is a straightforward mission-based offering. Players complete contracts with bonus objectives that involve killing certain targets. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will also feature an online deathmatch mode, pitting sniper against sniper.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint

The newest instalment in the Tom Clancy franchise is Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Much like the previous instalment, Wildlands, Breakpoint combines tactical third-or-first-person shooter combat with a fully open-world setting. Set in a fictional island that hosts various biomes from arid deserts to frozen wastelands, this new co-op-friendly title looks to be the most diverse environment yet. Playing as a Ghost, an elite black ops US soldier, players must face the Wolves, a rival faction of former Ghosts who have turned rogue. Breakpoint offers new features, such as an injury system that players must contend with and various environmental hazards. This new title looks exciting for both new players and returning franchise veterans.

Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair

This interesting platformer title from Team17 harkens back to the days of Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie. Offering a dazzling 2.5D environment with obstacles and puzzles galore, Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair looks upbeat and action- packed. The player assumes the role of a dynamic, chameleon-bat duo in a mission to rescue Queen Phoebee’s royal guardsmen. It appears to offer both top-down, overworld-style puzzle gameplay and more traditional platformer fun.
