Rainbow Six Quarantine E3

Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine delayed to next year or later

Sometimes it pays to delay.

Are you looking forward to Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine? Well, be prepared to look forward for a little longer, as both games have been delayed. The most recent Ubisoft earnings report is the bearer of the bad news, stating that the games have been moved “to 2021-2022 to leverage their full potential in the context of production challenges caused by Covid 19.”

Far Cry 6 was initially scheduled to release on February 18, 2021. Rainbow Six Quarantine was meant for this year. But now, they’ve both been moved to Ubisoft’s next fiscal year. This means that the games won’t launch until at least April of 2021, to early 2022. While this is undoubtedly going to be a tough pill to swallow for fans of both franchises, it isn’t totally without warning. Ubisoft hinted at the possibility of delaying a big title or two earlier this year.

Breaking launch

I certainly hope the delays allow Ubisoft to expand and further polish the two titles, as they both hold a lot of promise. Far Cry 6 features Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad fame as a dictator ruling the island of Yara. The game puts you in the shoes of a guerrilla fighter trying to help liberate the Caribbean island from his control. The game has been in production for over four years and is set to include the new “Fangs for Hire” system of recruiting NPCs to the rebel cause.

Rainbow Six Quarantine, on the other hand, brings things a little closer to home. That game has players take part in a three-person team in order to curb the spread of an alien outbreak that threatens the world. It’s set to take the basics of the limited Outbreak game mode from Siege and make us all very uncomfortable in the process.

At any rate, hopefully, the wait for these two games won’t be too long, as fans are no doubt eager to finally get their hands on them.
