Genshin Impact: Abyssal Domains guide -- Artifacts, weapon ascension, and talent leveling materials

Genshin Impact has several mini-dungeons known as Abyssal Domains. These are instances with an encounter netting more rewards. For this guide, we discuss the ones that provide you with artifacts, weapon ascension materials, and talent leveling materials. Genshin Impact: Abyssal Domains -- Farming artifacts and materials for character ascension and talent leveling As mentioned in one of our Genshin Impact starter guides, Abyssal Domains, Ley Line Outcrops, and elite farming runs will become your usual romps. After a while, since you have to boost your characters and weapons further, you should delve into Abyssal Domains. Remember that picking up rewards requires you to have 20 Original Resin. Since you're likely to end up farming and spending a lot of time to get the loot you need, you might want to stock up on primogems or Fragile Resin to replenish Genshin Impact's notorious "timer." Anyway, I've split up this guide into two parts. Check the page below for the content that you need help with: Part I: The Basics - Ley Line Disorders and tips for farming Part II: The Rewards - Abyssal Domain artifacts and materials The basics of dungeon farming You can check for Abyssal Domain locations in Genshin Impact simply by opening the Adventurer's Handbook and checking the "Domains" tab. This will show you additional tabs for the Spiral Abyss and Stormterror boss fight (Trounce Domain). Furthermore, while the Wolf of the North challenge/Andrius boss fight is considered a weekly encounter just like Stormterror, it's not part of this tab. Anyway, the first tab is what you should be looking at. This lists down all the Abyssal Domains in the game, as well as their rewards (some of which can change daily) and their location on the map once you click on the icon. Simply travel to that area and interact with the dungeon's entrance to unlock it as a fast travel point. In some cases, there are those that require you to solve a quick puzzle or reach a higher Adventure Rank (AR) first. Note: You may also open the world map and click on "Domains only" so that these locations are shown. Ley Line Disorders and enemies Ley Line Disorders are modifiers that each Abyssal Domain has. They correspond to an elemental status effect, a debuff that remains throughout the encounter. It's possible that, as you increase your Adventure Rank as well as the dungeon's difficulty, the Ley Line Disorder gains additional effects. For instance, the lowest difficulty of a dungeon might simply have an Electro effect that drains your elemental burst's energy. Later, higher ranks will have lightning strikes and orbs floating around. Likewise, you should take note of the enemies. The status effect usually coincides with the types of mobs you'll encounter. In that example with the Electro debuff, that means enemies tend to be Electro-powered slime or Fatui mages. Characters to bring With that in mind, make sure you bring the best characters for the job. Take into account their skills, bursts, and the elemental combos that can be triggered. Like in the previous example, if you've got Electro opponents, you'll want Pyro (overload), Cryo (Superconduct), or Hydro (electro-charged) combatants. Ideally, though, you'll want to have someone like Venti as he's Genshin Impact's best support character. Venti's elemental burst pulls in numerous foes, allowing you to nuke them with other skills and elemental combos. Because Abyssal Domains have a timer, clearing entire crowds of hostiles faster is always a plus. Sadly, his banner was previously available as a limited-time Wish microtransaction, so he's a lot harder to get now. If you don't have Venti or stronger characters from Wishes, then you should at least have a couple of unlockable characters such as Xiangling (melee DPS) and Barbara (healer). The former can be obtained by clearing floor 3 - chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss dungeon. The latter, meanwhile, is obtained if you've reached Adventure Rank 20 before patch 1.1 hits. Farming rewards As cited earlier, it's important to remember the drops you'll get from each Abyssal Domain. The places that give weapon ascension and talent leveling materials have their drops changing each day. As such, take note of the characters and weapons you want to boost. Moreover, Sunday will have all varieties included in the loot pool. Here's an example: If you have Diluc and Wolf's Gravestone - Prioritize Forsaken Rift on Tuesdays and Fridays for his talent leveling material. Then, do Cecilia Garden on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the weapon ascension material. If you have Xiangling and Primordial Jade Winged-Spear or Crescent Pike - Do Taishan Mansion on Tuesday/Friday and Hidden Palace of Lianshan on Monday/Thursday. If you have Venti and Favonius Warbow - Farm Forsaken Rift and Cecilia Garden on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The items that'll help him and his loadout drop from those dungeons on those days. Note: For those providing artifacts, the rewards remain static regardless of the day. However, much like other Abyssal Domain types in Genshin Impact, you'll get rarer versions of certain items as long as you've been boosting your Adventure Rank and unlocking more difficult tiers. All right, we're done discussing the basics. Let's talk about the possible rewards from Genshin Impact's Abyssal Domains. Abyssal Domain rewards Below, you'll see several tables pertaining to the Abyssal Domain rewards in Genshin Impact. Furthermore, I've also listed the characters that use these items for talent leveling and some examples of weapons that use ascension materials. Lastly, don't forget that increasing your Adventure Rank (AR) and unlocking higher dungeon difficulties nets rewards with increased rarity too. Monday/Thursday: Decabrian - Looks like a tablet 5-star: Aquila Favonia 4-star: Favonia Codex/Sword, The Stringless, The Viridescent Hunt, The Bell Tuesday/Friday: Boreal Wolf - Looks like a tooth 5-star: Skyward Atlas, Skyward Blade, Skyward Harp, Skyward Pride 4-star: The Black Sword, The Widsith, Wine and Song, The Flute, Sacrificial Greatsword 3-star: Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers Wednesday/Saturday: Dandelion Gladiator - Looks like handcuffs 5-star: Wolf's Gravestone, Skyward Spine, Amos' Bow, Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds 4-star: Favonius Greatsword/Lance/Warbow, Sacrificial Sword/Fragments Hidden Palace of Lianshan Formula Unlocks at AR 16 Engulfing Storm: Continuously drains your character's elemental burst energy. Monday/Thursday: Sands of Guyun - Looks like a rectangular block 5-star: Primordial Jade Winged-Spear 4-star: Rust, Crescent Pike, Lion's Roar, Blackcliff Warbow 3-star: Slingshot Tuesday/Friday: Mist Veiled Elixir - A plate with circular orbs 5-star: None 4-star: Prototype Malice/Crescent/Rancour, Eye of Perception, Dragon's Bane, Rainslasher Wednesday/Saturday: Aerodiserite - A block with an indentation 5-star: None 4-star: Prototype Animus/Grudge, Mappa Mare, Compound Bow, Iron Sting, Serpent Spine Abyssal Domains of Mastery: Talent leveling materials Abyssal Domain and Ley Line Disorder Day and Talent Ascension Material Talent Ascension Material Usage Forsaken Rift Unlocks at AR 27 Condensed Ice – Increases your stamina consumption making it harder for you to constantly sprint around the area. Monday/Thursday: Freedom 5-star: Klee, Traveler (Anemo) 4-star: Amber, Barbara, Sucrose Tuesday/Friday: Resistance 5-star: Diluc, Jean, Mona 4-star: Bennett, Noelle, Razor Wednesday/Saturday: Ballad 5-star: Venti 4-star: Fischl, Kaeya, Lisa Taishan Mansion Unlocks at AR 27 Smoldering Flames – Your characters are constantly affected by a Pyro damage-over-time (DOT) effect. Monday/Thursday: Prosperity 5-star: Qiqi, Keqing, Traveler (Geo) 4-star: Ningguang Tuesday/Friday: Diligence 5-star: None 4-star: Xiangling, Chongyun Wednesday/Saturday: Gold 5-star: None 4-star: Beidou, Xingqiu Note: While you can farm these rewards, characters can only use them once they've reached Ascension Phase 2 (level 40+). That's the only time you're allowed to level-up their talents. The talent-leveling mechanic is separate from Constellation passives. Those are boosts obtained via (a) duplicate characters from "gacha" Wish pulls, or (b) 5-star materials from the Souvenir Shops in Mondstadt or Liyue in the case of the Traveler. Abyssal Domains of Blessing: Artifacts Abyssal Domain and Ley Line Disorder Artifact Sets Suggested Equipment for Characters Midsummer Courtyard Unlocks at AR 22 Engulfing Storm: Continuously drains your character's elemental burst energy. Adventurer Low-level characters; starter artifact set Resolution of Sojourner DPS characters for the 2-set bonus Thundering Fury Electro-based characters (i.e., Fischl) Thundersoother N/A Valley of Remembrance Unlocks at AR 22 Physical damage of all party members is increased by 75%. Traveling Doctor N/A Tiny Miracle N/A Viridescent Venerer Anemo-based characters (i.e., Venti) Maiden Beloved Healers (although other artifacts are better depending on the character) Hidden Palace of Zhou Unlocks at AR 25 When superconduct and overload are triggered, your character takes damage. When melt is triggered, an AoE blast damage enemies instead. Martial Artist Low-level characters; starter artifact set Defender's Will N/A Crimson Witch of Flames Pyro-based characters (i.e., Xiangling/Klee) Lavawalker N/A Domain of Guyun Unlocks at AR 30 When superconduct and overload are triggered, your character takes damage. However, Electro damage is increased by 150% and AoE is increased by 100%. Brave Heart DPS characters for the 2-set bonus Lucky Dog Low-level characters; starter artifact set Archaic Petra Geo-based characters (i.e., Ningguang or Geo-swapped Traveler) Retracing Bolide N/A Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern Unlocks at AR 35 Geo damage of all party members is increased by 75%.
