Upon entering Phase 2 of the Genshin Impact Alchemical Ascension event, you’ll need to figure out how to pass the Alchemy Exams. These have unique objectives to beat to earn more potion shop funds.
How to pass the Beginner Exam in Genshin Impact Alchemical Ascension
During Cycles 11-13, Sucrose will visit your potion shop and offer you the chance to pass a Beginner Alchemy Exam. This is separate from your usual Market News potions you must create to follow customer demands. To pass this exam, you must complete a main objective, and you also have optional objectives you should aim for:
| Main Objective | Concoct a potion of Intermediate or higher grade whose efficacies include Constitution. |
| Optional Objectives | – Potion grade reaches Intermediate and potion level reaches +5. – Potion displays at least 1 characteristic. – Use no more than 3 different types of ingredients. |
If you want to earn all monetary rewards and ace this Beginner Exam, you have to create an Intermediate Constitution Potion using these ingredients and the layout shown above:
- x4 Special Sweet Flower (Constitution/Strengthening)
- x3 Special Calla Lily (Constitution/Steadying)
- x2 Special Mushroom (Balanced/Endurance)
At this point, you should be able to stack up to two slots, and I took advantage of this to create this potion with a Tuning Rate of 225%. This will lead you to beat all objectives, and you’ll earn yourself a total of 25,000 shop funds.
How to pass the Intermediate Exam
Sucrose will come back during Cycles 14-16 to have you take the Intermediate Alchemy Exam. This time, the objectives are tougher to beat, but by using my method exactly you’ll be able to achieve them all. Sucrose is looking for you to beat these objectives:
| Main Objective | Concoct a potion with efficacies Strength and Dexterity both reaching grade Intermediate or higher. |
| Optional Objectives | – Potion grade reaches Intermediate and potion level reaches +8 – Potion displays at least 2 characteristics. – No more than 10 ingredients used. |
I was able to achieve the main objective and side objectives by creating this Intermediate Strength and Dexterity Potion. Use the same setup as I did, and use the ingredients listed below:
- x6 Special Horsetail (Dexterity/Endurance)
- x2 Special Mist Flower (Strength/Steadying)
- x2 Special Mushroom (Balanced/Endurance)
I made sure to only use a total of 10 ingredients, and I managed to make this Intermediate Strength and Dexterity Potion level 9. If you follow my method, you’ll be able to earn all the rewards, which combine to become 50,000 shop funds.
How to pass the Advanced Exam
During Cycles 20-22, Sucrose will come around again to offer you the Advanced Exam. Now the objectives are getting a bit tougher, but you should be able to pass this with flying colors. Here are the objectives:

| Optional Objectives | – Potion grade reaches Advanced and potion level reaches +8. – Potion displays the “Fragrant” characteristic. – Uses at least 5 different types of ingredients. |
I created an Advanced Wisdom Potion, but you may also make yours into a Wisdom & Charisma Potion due to it requiring the Fragrant characteristic. Try following my layout above, and use the following ingredients:
- x2 Special Marcotte (Charisma/Fragrant)
- x2 Special Lumidouce Bell (Wisdom/Technique)
- x2 Special Sumeru Rose (Charisma/Fragrant)
- x2 Special Qingxin (Wisdom/Healing)
- x1 Special Windwheel Aster (Wisdom/Technique)
- x1 Special Mushroom (Balanced/Endurance)
With this layout, or a similar one, you should be easily able to concoct an Advanced Wisdom Potion, or an Advanced Wisdom & Charisma Potion. As a reward for completing all objectives, Sucrose gave me 100,000 shop funds.
How to pass the Expert Exam in Alchemical Ascension
This is the exam that stumped me, and will probably give you a ton of trouble too. Sucrose will come back one last time during Cycles 26-28, and prepare for passing these tough objectives:

| Optional Objectives | – Potion grade reaches Expert and potion level reaches +8. – Potion displays the “Perception” and “Steadying” characteristics. – Tuning Rate reaches 280% |
After one failed attempt, I finally reached Expert grade after focusing more on using higher-quality ingredients over anything else. Follow the ingredients below to get an Expert potion:
- x6 Special Mint (Balanced/Perception)
- x3 Special Marcotte (Charisma/Fragrant)
- x2 Special Mist Flower (Strength/Steadying)
- x1 Special Mushroom (Balanced/Endurance)
With these ingredients and my layout above, I was able to craft an Expert Charisma Potion that was exactly level 8. After this stressful exam, Sucrose will reward you with 300,000 shop funds, and you’ll never have to take another exam again…hopefully.
