A new story quest involving Xiao is available now in Genshin Impact. It’s called “Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns.” Completing it, among other things, unlocks the “Guests Flock From Afar” Festive Fever stage for the Lantern Rite event. Here’s our guide to help you out.

Genshin Impact: Reaching Festive Fever “Guests Flock From Afar” in the Lantern Rite event
You can start “Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns” by talking to Wang’ya, the Lantern Rite manager in Liyue Harbor. First, she’ll tell you to look for a couple of materials for the festival.
These will be marked on Genshin Impact‘s world map. One location has you shooting down the air bubbles, and another involves a fight with a Ruin Hunter.
When you’re done, you’ll be investigating the docks due to a mysterious vagabond roaming around the area. Eventually, you’ll learn from Kaeya and his informant that the Treasure Hoarders might be up to something.
Your adventures will lead you to a meeting with Xiao, followed by a few fights against the Treasure Hoarder bandits and hilichurls to help the Milelith guards.
Xiao will then leave (it seems the Vigilant Yaksha doesn’t like to socialize). His story quest will continue on February 18 once “Light Upon the Sea” becomes available.
In any case, make sure that you’ve also completed the first set of Lantern Rite Tales. With that done, the “Guests Flock From Afar” Festive Fever stage will be unlocked.
You’ll then be able to check out the following additions to Genshin Impact‘s Lantern Rite event:
- Lantern Rite Tales – The next part will become available. As usual, these mini-quests will be unlocked at intervals.
- Xiao Market – You can now purchase rewards from the stage 2 market using the Peace Talismans from the Theater Mechanicus mini-game.
- Theater Mechanicus – Speaking of which, the Theater Mechanicus’ Armory panel now lets you unlock the Longbow tower. Another tower, Desire (buffs other contraptions) will be added in a couple of days.
