The Chamber of Secrets is a major location in the Harry Potter novels and films. After all, it leads to the depths of the castle where the deadly and ancient Basilisk awaits. Also, it’s said that only a true heir of Salazar Slytherin can unlock it. So, the question remains: can you open the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy guide: Can you open the Chamber of Secrets
The Chamber of Secrets cannot be opened in Hogwarts Legacy. That might sound disappointing, but it does make sense from a plot/narrative standpoint. After all, your main character is already dealing with Ancient Magic, so it’s not like they’d also become an heir of Salazar Slytherin with the power to speak Parseltongue. That would be akin to Rey levels of “I can do everything the previous hero can do and then some.”
Still, it’s possible to visit the location that leads to the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts Legacy. It even grants a minor collectible that references the novels and films. Here’s the gist:
- First, use the Grand Staircase: Lower Grand Staircase fast travel point.
- When you spawn in, you’ll notice a blank wall. This is actually the way to the Slytherin Common Room. From your spot, make a right and follow the narrow corridor.
- At the end of the corridor, you’ll see a suit of armor. Make another right and you’ll enter the girls’ bathroom.

Remember this spot? In the novel, a student named Myrtle was crying in the girls’ bathroom when she heard a noise. She turned around and got the full blast of the Basilisk’s gaze, killing her instantly. And, yes, this is basically the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts Legacy.
