FF7 Rebirth: How to not get petrified

One of the challenges for Fiend Intel 1: Wizards of the Waste asks that you not get petrified by the Sahagin Warrior. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only enemy that petrifies you, since you’ll be subject to this detrimental effect from the Gi in Cosmo Canyon. How you can avoid being petrified in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is by wearing a Jeweled Ring, a Safety Bit, or using a Gold Needle.

Both of these accessories will give you immunity to Petrify and Stone, and it’d be wise for a majority of your party members to be wearing them. You can craft a Jeweled Ring through Item Transmutation (make sure you’ve upgraded your Craftsmanship level up to unlock it).

Safety Bit is available to purchase through certain vendors once you’ve reached the later chapters. You can also find this accessory inside a yellow chest in the Coal Mines during Chapter 7.

If you don’t have these items, but you still want to avoid Petrify, there’s another good method. Luckily, once the Sahagin Warrior tries to Petrify you, it’ll take some time before you turn to stone. Using an item like a Gold Needle can cure Petrify before you even turn to stone, allowing you to complete this Fiend Intel challenge in Cosmo Canyon. You can purchase these through Vending Machines.

There’s also the Cleansing Materia which can allow you to use curing spells. Esuna will cure any detrimental status effect such as Petrify, but you must have your Cleansing Materia at level two.

Now you should be able to complete this Fiend Intel challenge easily, and you can cure yourself of Petrify in any other situation! Petrify isn’t the only negative status effect in FF7 Rebirth, you also don’t want to get stunned by the Saberhawk.
