In Palworld, you can craft Grappling Guns to make getting around much easier. Unlocking it or finding the schematics is a little tricky, however.
How to unlock the Grappling Gun in Palworld
The first instance of a Grappling Gun in Palworld that players will come across is the Grappling Gun in the Technology Tree. You’ll notice that it is in a secluded purple column, separated from the rest of the tech and not unlockable through conventional needs.
This is because the Grappling Gun is an Ancient Technology, and so needs Ancient Technology Points to unlock.
To get Ancient Technology Points in Palworld, you’ll need to fight and beat the Field Bosses or Towers.
Field Bosses are roaming (or sealed) Pals that are much bigger and mightier than their typical counterparts, and will be tough to take down. Challenging one and succeeding, however, will net you with one Ancient Technology Point for the first time you defeat it.
The Towers represent much bigger challenges and are housed by a boss of the human group that dominates that area. You will need to be well-equipped before taking one on. Upon successfully beating a Tower for the first time, you’ll be rewarded with numerous Ancient Technology Points, so they’re well worth it.
With your Ancient Technology Points in hand, you can go to the Technology Tree and unlock any of the Ancient Tech that you’ve got your eye on. Then simply head to a Workbench to craft it.
Note that you’ll need Ancient Civilization Parts that can be found by taking down Lucky Pals or by defeating Dungeon bosses.

How to use a Grappling Gun in Palworld
With the Grappling Gun equipped in Palworld, you can shoot it in a direction to latch onto a surface and be propelled toward it. The gun does have a limited range, with better renditions offering more range. You get infinite use out of a Grappling Gun, and it doesn’t need to be repaired.
When using Grappling Guns, there is a ten-second cooldown between uses. So, no, you can’t swing your way around the mountains. Also, if there is something in your way, you will collide with it, meaning you won’t reach your destination. You will have to wait for the cooldown before you can use it again.
Using Grappling Guns can get a little infuriating at times, so don’t treat them as an ultimate tool of versatility. Just use them to get a head-start when climbing to scale much greater heights for the most ease.
