How to fix the Great Furnace of Narvi in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria

How's a Dwarf supposed to fix a fancy Elven forge?

In Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, you’ll come across the legendary Great Furnace of Narvi. This furnace is needed to allow you to forge steel, an alloy required to make a better pickaxe to advance to the next stage of your journey.

Some work is required to fix the forge, but it’s up to you whether you do it the easy way of the hard way.

Fixing the Great Furnace of Narvi in Return to Moria

The Great Furnace of Narvi in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a great Elven furnace that will allow you to create unique tools and items that you’ll need for your journey. Missing from it are three parts that you’ll need to replace to get the thing working again.

The easy way

Upon appreciating the magnificence of the Elven forge, you may notice some sections highlighted in orange. There are three of these parts, and they are all missing. I missed this the first time playing, but each part can actually be found littered around the forge room. There are some sneaky corridors and rooms, so you’ll need to be thorough with your search.

When you find a part, pick it up and make your way to the respective highlighted segment. You can place it in once you’re close enough. You may not be able to reach the part you need, in which case you’ll need to use quick platforms to build a path, as you can’t jump whilst carrying an object!

Once all three are placed in, turn the crank at the foot of the forge to activate the bellowing mechanism.

The hard way

If you can’t find any of the pieces, or want an extra challenge, you can build each piece yourself and insert them into the forge. To get the crafting recipe for the individual parts, you must interact with the highlighted orange segments. You’ll receive the recipes for the pipe, the gear, and the crank, and they’ll sit in the ‘special’ section of your forge.

They are inexpensive, but the challenge resides in carrying them over, as you cannot access your inventory nor jump whilst carrying a heavy object. It’ll cost 12 iron ingots in total to construct each of the parts. I would recommend building a Hearth and a forge in the Great Forge of Narvi. You’ll find coal, iron, stone, and wood in the Elven Quarter, everything you need to build those structures and forge the parts.

This will make your commute from the forge to the Great Forge of Narvi much simpler.

I hope this has helped you, fellow Dwarf, and that you’ll be able to reconstruct the Great Forge of Narvi in no time. For more Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria help, look no further than PC Invasion.
