How to get 40 melee kills with Stalker Boots in COD MW3

This holiday challenge is a huge headache.

This year’s holiday event is now live in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and there are a bunch of challenges that give players free rewards as a part of the Santa’s Slayground event. Some challenges are easier than others, however, and players are struggling with a few of them.

Easy Way to Get Melee Kills With Stalker Boots in MW3

While you can do the Santa’s Slayground challenges in any Call of Duty mode, including Warzone and Zombies, many players are choosing to get them done in standard multiplayer matches. The first challenge requires you to get 40 Operator melee kills with Stalker Boots equipped. That sounds easy enough on paper, but it gets more frustrating once you realize just how long it’ll take to get 40 kills.

Before you can even attempt this challenge, you need to equip the Stalker Boots. To find them, open the loadout screen and customize a class of your choosing. The Stalker Boots are located at the far right end of the class setup page. Stalker Boots increase strafe and ADS movement speed, which doesn’t really make sense for a melee-centric challenge, but it is what it is.

While you’re on the class setup page, it’s best to equip a melee weapon like the Gutter Knife or Karambit in your secondary slot. These melee weapons are a one-shot kill. Trying to get melee kills with a standard weapon will take two hits, and you’ll usually be shot dead before you can land the killing blow. We also recommend equipping either the Blacklight Flashlight to track enemy footsteps or the Ghost T/V Camo to hide yourself from enemy radar.

Once you’ve got a class ready to go, load it into the Shipmas 24/7 playlist. While you can do this challenge in any mode, it’s going to take hours to finish unless you’re playing on a small map like Shipment. Thankfully, Sledgehammer Games has made the holiday-themed Shipmas permanently available in a dedicated playlist for the CODMAS event.

There’s not much more advice that we can give other than repeatedly throwing yourself into the Shipment meat grinder. It’ll take a few matches, but melee kills should come naturally with a few matches. If you’re really stuck with this challenge, you can always complete the Warzone or Zombies challenge for this step instead. In the former, you’ll need to get 10 kills with Marksman Rifles, while the latter requires you to kill 5 Special Zombies with melee damage.

The CODMAS event will only last for a few weeks, so make sure to get all the free Santa’s Slayground rewards while you still can. If this event is anything like the previous events that MW3 has had since launch, there won’t be a way to get the special weapon blueprint or event-specific cosmetics once it’s over.
