In LEGO Fortnite, the uncommon forest axe is needed to access the next tier of wood for more complex and stronger builds and items. But accessing it requires a tussle with some enemies.
Why do you need the Uncommon Forest Axe in LEGO Fortnite?
In LEGO Fortnite, the uncommon forest axe is a necessary piece of kit if you want to progress and unlock more items and recipes. It allows you to access the next tier of wood: Knotwood. This wood resides underground, in caves.
A normal forest axe can’t chop these things down, so you’ll need the uncommon forest axe to gain access to it. Upon doing so, you’ll unlock new recipes, more items, and your options will increase dramatically.
It also does 3 damage instead of 2, so it’ll allow you to harvest wood much faster than its predecessor.

Getting the Uncommon Forest Axe in LEGO Fortnite
To get the uncommon forest axe in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll first need to upgrade your crafting station. To do this, you’ll need eight Planks and Three Shells. Planks are easy enough to source from the Lumber Mill. The Shells, however, are a little trickier.
Shells are drops from an enemy that prowls the Grasslands: the Rollers. They hide underground and jump out when you walk near, so you’ll have to keep exploring to bump into them. They aren’t rare, thankfully, but will require a good look.
Rollers will charge at you, so have a shield handy to deflect them onto their backs. While they flail around, you can attack them for much more damage. Once defeated, these creatures will drop one shell, so you’ll have to repeat that process a couple more times to upgrade your Crafting Bench.
Once upgraded, you’ll have access to the uncommon forest axe and the uncommon pickaxe.
Crafting the uncommon forest axe requires 3 bones and 3 wooden rods. The wooden rods are acquired in the same manner as the planks, so they should be easy items to obtain. Bones are dropped from skeletons.
At that point in the game, I had an abundance of bones, thanks to all the skeletons that thought they could take on my village. So, upon upgrading the Crafting Bench, you should find it incredibly easy to craft the uncommon forest axe and start chopping down some Knotwood.
