Arguably the most anticipated game release of 2024 (besides the highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC), Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth officially launches for PS5 on February 29th, 2024. Players who want to play the game a day early need to complete a few prerequisites before purchasing the game. This trick requires you to create a new PSN account in another region such as New Zealand or Japan.

We’ve talked about the New Zealand trick a few times in the past for different games. We recommend creating a New Zealand account since Japan accounts require more regional locked items such as a Japanese credit card and an ID for purchasing age-restricted games. But once you’ve gone ahead and created the account, head over to the New Zealand PSN store on your PlayStation or through their website.

Find FF7 Rebirth in the store, and you’ll notice the game says it will be released on February 28th at 5 am CST. Unfortunately, you can’t use normal purchasing methods with a New Zealand account, and you’ll have to add funds to your wallet via PSN gift cards. Make sure you buy New Zealand PSN cards, as gift cards are region-locked.

Once you’ve the funds to purchase FF7 Rebirth ($134.95 NZD for standard, $164.95 NZD for digital deluxe), you can start pre-loading the game for the 28th. This method does have a few caveats, most notably the fact that you’ll most likely spend an extra $20-30 USD on New Zealand PSN gift cards. But if that’s not an issue you’ll be ready to dive straight into the game a whole day earlier than everyone else, giving you ample amount of time to practice your favorite song on the piano.
