In the Savior’s Wake quest of Genshin Impact, you will be required to solve an objective called Decode this Level’s Puzzle, which is also known as the Root Cycle puzzle. Savior’s Wake is a tough quest under the Wake of Narcissus quest chain.
In this quest, you will need to defeat a few meks and also solve some puzzles to activate a few mechanisms to complete it. In the later stage of the quest, you will need to collect three Root Cycles by completing a tough puzzle involving light beams and gears. In this guide, we will show you how to solve the Root Cycle puzzle to complete the Decode this Level’s Puzzle objective in the Savior’s Wake quest of Genshin Impact.
How to complete the Decode this Level’s Puzzle (Root Cycle Puzzle) in Genshin Impact
In the Savior’s Wake quest of Genshin Impact, you will be required to solve the Root Cycle puzzle to collect three Root Cycles. This needs to be done by aligning Eliphas Beams with the door locks. The three Root Cycles are placed in three different rooms, so you will need to unlock three different doors one by one to collect all of the Root Cycles.
After defeating the two Specialist Meks, unlock and open the floor mechanism. Now, head towards the Mechanical Switch upstairs which needs to be used to move these beams. Besides the switch, you will find the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability. After acquiring the Xenochromatic ability, go near the switch to control it.
First Root Cycle
Use the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability on the right switch to rotate the gear of the lights clockwise. Keep rotating the gears until the lower Eplihas Beam aligns with the door lock on your right. The lock can be found on the wall above each door. After the lower beam aligns with the lock, wait for a while till the door gets unlocked. Afterward, head inside the unlocked room to collect the first Root Cycle. Inside this room, you will also find another mechanism. Interact with it to disconnect the gear below and make your way back to the switch again.

Second Root Cycle
After coming back to the switch, use the ability on the right switch again to rotate the gear clockwise again. Make sure that the topmost beam aligns with the door lock on your left. Once aligned, it will unlock the second door as well. Repeat the process again, and head inside this room to collect the second Root Cycle.
Third Root Cycle
Getting the third Root Cycle is a bit complex and will take a bit of brainwork. Come back to the switch again, and repeat the process. This time, align the topmost beam with the lower one above the first door. Now, enter the second room that you unlocked and interact with the mechanism to activate the lower gear again.
After both of the beams are aligned and the lower gear is connected, go near the switch again. This time, use your ability on the switch on your left to rotate the gear anti-clockwise. Keep rotating the gears and the beams until both of the beams align with the door lock in front of you on the other side. In this case, the upper beam will align with the upper lock, whereas the lower beam will align with the lower one. Again, wait for a short period until the door opens. After the door opens, enter the third door to collect the third and final Root Cycle. Inside the third room, you will also find the Precious Chest.
After collecting all the Root Cycles, come downstairs in the center of the room and use the Root Cycles to unlock the main mechanism. Now, proceed further through the quest and finish other objectives to complete the Savior’s Wake quest. Completing the Savior’s Wake puzzle will give you the following rewards.
