How to steal the True Ladette painting in Payday 3

What do you mean it set on fire?!

The Under the Surphaze heist in Payday 3 is arguably one of the most confusing. There are a lot of different objectives, and security around the Art Gallery is extremely tight. If you’re playing with randoms, this is one of the heists that will inevitably go loud; it’s just a matter of time. Fortunately,  you can accomplish everything even if your cover is blown; it’s just harder when the cops won’t leave you alone. With this in mind, let me show you how to steal the True Ladette painting in Payday 3.

The True Ladette painting is hard to steal as you need some additional items to do it. If you’re playing with randoms, this is an issue because the equipment you need isn’t shared. If the odds weren’t stacked against you enough, the room locations are randomized. Still, you’re a pro heister; you can handle it. Here’s what you need to do:

Find the Flash Drive

We’ve done a detailed guide covering the Flash Drive, but you can find it in the Manager’s Office. It’s always in the safe on the wall behind the Computer Desk. You’ll need the details on the screen anyway, so this room is always worth a visit.

Find the Spectrophotometer

Try saying that one quickly, three times! The Spectrophotometer is always in the Server Room. Sadly, the location of this room is randomized, just like the Manager’s Office, but it’s always on the 2nd floor. As the Spectrophotometer is so large, the heister who has it keeps it in a duffel bag on their back.

Where is the True Ladette Painting?

The Ladette Painting can be found in several exhibition rooms and their locations are viewable on the Manager’s computer. One is fake, and the differences are invisible to the naked eye. You can use the Spectrophotometer to identify the real one, and whoever has it can place the equipment on the floor in front of the painting. After a few seconds, you can check the screen on the device to see if the picture is authentic or not.

Once you’re satisfied you’ve got the right one in front of you, insert the Flash Drive into the slot by the painting and retrieve your prize. A word of warning: the Flash Drive can only be used once, so ensure you don’t use it on the wrong painting.

If you try to steal the Ladette without the Flash Drive, you’ll trigger a security measure that incinerates the painting! It seems a little childish to me in a sort of “if we can’t have it, no one can” kind of way, but this is why you need all of the above items.

You’ll take this painting to the roof if you’ve gone loud. If you’re a stealth master and have gotten this far without alerting the authorities, you have to traverse an area full of pedestrians, so have fun with that.
