Microsoft has a Starfield truck prepped for its Gamescom appearance

The United Colonies would surely approve.

Starfield is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest games, in more ways than one. With this year’s Gamescom event nearly upon us, Microsoft has begun rolling out some of its more ambitious promotional efforts. They include a special vehicle that wouldn’t look entirely out of place in that game’s world.

In the Starfield subreddit, contributor New-Succotash-9597 shared a photo of a truck and trailer situated in a parking lot near the event. Taken by Blaze2be, the photo depicts a sleek vehicle with the Starfield circular patch on its side. An awning extends from the trailer to welcome visitors once the event begins.

Keep on trucking

Based on a little online research, it appears the vehicle used for the event is a Futuria GE-rt. A lot of the features put to use, branding aside, come standard with that vehicle. It provides a space suitable for as many as 30 people. The vehicles are offered in Europe for rent, purchase, and for full-service leasing.

If you think about it, a sleek truck trailer could be the perfect venue to show a trailer for the upcoming game. It should also provide a comfortable place for representatives to meet with eager fans. Gamescom 2023 will be held from Wednesday, August 23 through Sunday, August 27 in Cologne. Events include an Opening Night Live hosted by The Game Awards organizer Geoff Keighley. He “will once again present numerous world premieres and exciting announcements.”

Microsoft plans a heavy presence at Gamescom. There will be seating for theater presentations of Starfield, as well as numerous other games headed to Microsoft platforms. The timing is especially fortuitous in the case of Starfield. Players who order the game’s Premium Edition can start playing five to six days ahead of its official wider release on September 5, 2023.

Starfield is available for pre-purchase on Steam.
