How to unlock Cursed Ammo in MW3

Cursed Ammo is a Munitions box in Modern Warfare 3 exclusive to the Horde Hunt limited-time event. Players can unlock Cursed Ammo by collecting 200 Mimic skulls and bones during Zombies matches. You can do this by either finding Mimic skulls in chests or killing Mimics in the field.

Collecting 200 is incredibly challenging, considering Mimics aren’t very common and can be hard to find on the map. To speed up the process, make sure to play the Mimic Mania Hordepoint mode. You can collect more Mimic skulls and bones in this mode than the standard ones.

If you don’t want to play Mimic Mania Hordepoint and decide to collect skulls and bones elsewhere, you will have the best luck finding Mimics while completing bounty contracts. Remember to check all chests you encounter along the way, as they have the chance to contain skulls and bones inside.

What does Cursed Ammo do in MW3?

Unfortunately, the Cursed Ammo Munitions box has no special effects and is only used for cosmetic purposes. Yup, it’s just another way to make your Munitions box look snazzy and fresh.

I was extremely bummed to hear about it being purely cosmetic, especially considering the task of unlocking the Cursed Ammo is very time-consuming and isn’t easy.

You would think that an objective as challenging as “collecting 200 Mimic skulls and bones” would at least unlock something you could use in the field and make combat easier. But, no, Activision instead just changed the look of our box. Cool, dude.

On the brighter side, Cursed Ammo isn’t the only available reward in the Horde Hunt event challenge of MW3. If you want to learn about other rewards, check out our Horde Hunt challenges and rewards guide!
