A new battlefield for the androids.

New character skins from NieR: Automata and NieR Replicant are now available to buy in PUBG. The Nier crossover will let fans of the free-to-play battle royale play as 2B and 9S from NieR: Automata, as well as Kaine and Nier from NieR Replicant. The Nier crossover event is live in the game right now, but getting a hold of the skins will be expensive for players.

You’ll have to spend 2080 G-Coins to unlock 2B and Kaine, while 9S and Nier will set you back 1500 G-Coins. A bundle that includes all the characters will cost 5450 G-Coins, which is equivalent to just under $50 USD. The skins will be available until April 29. In addition to the character skins, the unusual crossover will provide players with Nier-themed items, like a Nier parachute, Emil’s Head, an Emil spray, a YoRHa spray, and a Magic Circle spray.

PUBG and Nier are trying to branch out

Fortnite has proven that creating exciting crossover skins is a major draw for players. Call of Duty recently tried its hand at this with the bizarre Attack on Titan-themed skinsPUBG also dabbled in crossovers in the past. The game had Joker and Harley Quinn skins a while before Fortnite eventually introduced them. PUBG has also had crossovers with the K-Pop group Blackpink, and the children’s song, “Baby Shark” by Pinkfong.

For the Nier franchise, this crossover is the latest of many that Square Enix has approved. Soulcalibur VI had 2B appear as a playable fighter, and players could also don her outfit in Gravity Rush 2. More recently, 2B appeared as a hilarious costume in Fall Guys. There’s also the NieR: Automata anime being made with involvement from Aniplex. It seems that if a game exists, Square Enix might want to put 2B in it. Here’s hoping that these many appearances are popular enough bring about a new entry in Yoko Taro’s acclaimed series.
