Fortnite’s crossover with Star Wars went ever deeper on Thursday at The Game Awards 2019. This Saturday, you can view an exclusive sneak peek of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker while playing Fortnite. Before the release of the movie on December 19, this is the only way you can take a peek behind the curtain. You can see the announcement below.
The premiere will be shown by J.J. Abrams, who will be live in the game along with The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley. In addition to seeing The Rise of Skywalker before anyone else, those who join the event will also receive a free Whisper Glider for just attending the event. Other Star Wars-themed cosmetics are available for purchase, including costumes for Rey, Finn, and a Sith Trooper, along with a slew of emotes and other cosmetics. You can buy those with your v-bucks in the Item Shop.
How to join the Fortnite Star Wars event
The Star Wars event takes place in the cinema inside of Fornite’s Risky Reels area. The showing starts on December 14 at 2pm ET, and doors open a half hour prior. Although Epic Games hasn’t officially announced that guns will be banned for the event, it’s likely that’s the case. You shouldn’t have to worry about dying while going on your intergalactic journey.
There isn’t anything specific required to enter: all you need to do is head to Risky Reels around 1:30pm ET and wait for the showing to begin. It’s important to note, though, that the event takes place on Fortnite’s Chapter 2 map, which is a little different than the original. That said, as long as you explore the new island a few times before Saturday, you shouldn’t have any problems finding the event location.
