Rocket League lucky lanterns lunar new year

Ready to “kick it” into the New Year with Rocket League? Psyonix has just what you’re looking for. The publisher announced on its blog page that the Lucky Lanterns Lunar New Year event is now live. From now through Feb. 10, players will be able to partake in the festive activities, unlocking some cool stuff.

What can you do in Lucky Lanterns?

First off, you’ll get to play in a whole new arena — the festive Forbidden Temple. Here, you’ll be able to score goals in a number of ways, all while admiring the beautiful view.

In addition, players can partake in online matches for an opportunity to win Red Envelopes. With these, you can unlock some cool items. These include the Paper Dragon Topper and Fortune Wheels, among many others. There are also Golden Lanterns you can unlock with the envelopes. These will earn players special items across Champion Series 1, 2, and 3.

People who stop by the Item Shop between these times can also purchase other special items, including cars. And anyone who stops by will score a free item just for browsing, so it never hurts to pop in.

The event takes place through Feb. 10 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. However, you’ve got a little bit longer to redeem your Red Envelopes. That deadline doesn’t come until Feb. 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

Rocket League’s latest trailer, featured below, should give you an idea of what kind of scenery you’ll see in the event. In addition, you’ll also see some spectacular new car designs that will make you feel like a samurai. Or, at the very least, drive like one. (Samurai drive, right?)

Haven’t picked up Rocket League yet? Not to worry. You can snag it in the Steam Marketplace for a pretty good price. Jump in and join the Lucky Lanterns party before it ends in February!
