Tears Of The Kingdom Schema Stones Zonai Vehicle

Where to find all Schema Stones in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Building has never been easier.

Although building vehicles and contraptions makes for one of the most enjoyable activities in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, making them from scratch every time can become tiring. Fortunately, the Autobuild ability rectifies this issue by letting you save contraptions you have built so you can materialize them instantly later. Even better, Tears of the Kingdom features collectible items, namely the Schema Stones and Yiga Schematics, that provide preset designs for you to build right away in case you struggle with thinking up creative designs yourself. Both of these items have different methods for finding them, but this guide will specifically go over the Schema Stones.

Tips for finding Schema Stones

In all, Tears of the Kingdom’s world contains 12 Schema Stones to collect, about a third of the total number of Yiga Schematics. Almost every Schema Stone is located in one of the Abandoned Mine areas found across the Depths. In each of these mines, one of the Steward Constructs will hand you a Schema Stone after you speak with it. If you need help discovering these mines and acquiring their respective Schema Stones, check out the Depths map below.

Before searching for these locations, note that unlike with the Yiga Schematics, you cannot obtain the Schema Stones until you have acquired the Autobuild ability. If you attempt to speak to the Steward Constructs who would normally give the Stones to you before then, they will tell you to find the Great Abandoned Central Mine where you unlock Autobuild. Keep reading to learn more about the specific Schema Stone locations and what contraptions the stones will let you build.

Schema Stone #1: Fanplane

This Schema Stone allows you to create a standard wing glider design with three fans on it, which comes in handy for traversal and all sorts of gliding-related puzzles and challenges in Tears of the Kingdom. You obtain the Schema Stone at the Great Abandoned Central Mine where you first learn the Autobuild skill. By defeating Master Kohga there, the Steward Construct will automatically grant you this Schema Stone as a reward, so you can’t miss it.

Schema Stone #2: Hot-Air Balloon

A basic hot-air balloon design, this Schema Stone can help you ascend to great heights as long as you can generate a constant source of fire. Unlike most of the other Schema Stones, you earn this one on the surface at Lookout Landing, right after you obtain Autobuild. By speaking to Josha and fixing Robbie’s hot-air balloon, you will receive the Schema Stone just like that.

Schema Stone #3: Launch Pad

This simple contraption can launch you a short distance after striking the attached spring. The Schema Stone that contains this design resides in the Abandoned Kakariko Mine, which sits below Kakariko Village in the Depths. Before you can collect the Schema Stone, however, you have to deal with a Yiga Clan member disguised as a researcher who is pestering the Steward Construct guarding the stone. Interact with the member to trigger a fight with three Yiga Footsoldiers, after which you can speak with the Steward Construct and earn the stone.

Schema Stone #4: Bridge

This Schema Stone design consists of a few simple slabs forming a makeshift bridge, which, of course, helps you cross gaps, at least to an extent. For this one, you have to access the Abandoned Hateno Mine right below Hateno Village and take out a few Yiga Clan members. Afterward, you can talk to the Steward Construct for your reward.

Schema Stone #5: Dirigible

The Dirigible has a nearly identical function to the Hot-Air Balloon design, except that this one uses two balloons and comes with two flame emitters readily available to provide fuel. Beneath Lurelin Village in the southeast exists the Abandoned Lurelin Mine, where the Steward Construct carrying the Dirigible Schema Stone resides. Speak with this construct after you have defeated the nearby Yiga Clan members.

Schema Stone #6: Hovercraft

This fan-propelled sled lets you ride across sand, snow, and generally smooth terrain at reasonably high speeds. You can get this design at the Abandoned Gerudo Mine below Gerudo Town, a fitting location considering how much it can help you cross the Gerudo Desert. You can’t obtain it right away, however, as Master Kohga arrives here for his nefarious plans after his initial defeat at the Great Abandoned Central Mine. Beating him again will allow you to collect the Schema Stone from one of the Steward Constructs.

Schema Stone #7: Instant Scaffold

Another simple design, the Instant Scaffold grants you an easy way to utilize the Ascend ability to reach higher ground. It’s located in the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine beneath Kara Kara Bazaar, but of course, you’ll have to defeat a few Yiga Clan members before getting it.

Schema Stone #8: Bolt Boat

Not only does the Bolt Boat let you cross water with ease, but it also features a Shock Emitter that can electrocute enemies as well as fish for you to collect. Naturally, the design for this aquatic vehicle sits right under Zora’s Domain in the Abandoned Lanayru Mine. Although this serves as the location for the third Master Kohga encounter, I actually arrived before I completed his second fight, which meant that I could get the Bolt Boat Schema Stone with no resistance. If you come here after finishing the second Master Kohga battle, you will have to defeat him yet again before you can collect the stone.

Schema Stone #9: Instant Cannon

By planting the Instant Cannon on the ground, you can automatically blast away at enemies and hard rocks while you take care of other tasks. Found in the Abandoned Tarrey Mine below Tarrey Town, the Instant Cannon Schema Stone does not require you to defeat a group of Yiga Clan members before getting it. You can chat with the Steward Construct and acquire its Schema Stone right when you arrive.

Schema Stone #10: Automated Ally

As the name suggests, the Automated Ally serves as a helpful companion in fights by spitting fire at any enemies within its sights. The Automated Ally Schema Stone is located within the burning hot Abandoned Eldin Mine beneath Goron City, which you can head to on your way to the Fire Temple. The extreme heat has seemingly deterred the Yiga Clan from attempting to pillage the place, so you can acquire the stone right away.

Schema Stone #11: Rocket Platform

Tears Of The Kingdom Abandoned Hebra Mine

Getting this Schema Stone gives you a design that provides a convenient way for you to blast yourself airborne at high speeds. Its location at the Abandoned Hebra Mine underneath Rito Village is only accessible via a hidden chasm, as it is completely surrounded by walls that stretch up to the surface. The chasm can be accessed through a hole carved within the southeastern portion of Rito Village’s cliffside.

The Abandoned Hebra Mine is the setting for your final battle with Master Kohga, so if you have already beaten him three times prior like I did at this point, a Zonai Survey Team researcher will point you in the right direction. If you haven’t, though, you can still access the mine and obtain the stone without having to deal with Kohga. Otherwise, you need to beat Kohga one last time to get the stone.

Schema Stone #12: Beam Cycle

The Beam Cycle is, as you might have guessed, a motorcycle-esque vehicle you can ride around on while hitting enemies with a laser beam. Usually, this last Schema Stone resides on the surface, specifically within the Shrine of Resurrection where Breath of the Wild began. Heading to the back of the Shrine of Resurrection will lead you to a hole you can jump down to find the Steward Construct holding the stone. Once there, you will find a pile of bananas that the Yiga Clan set down as a trap. Trigger the trap, defeat the Yiga Clan members, and walk up to the Steward Construct to receive your final Schema Stone reward.

With these Schema Stones, you can make the building process in Tears of the Kingdom much less time-consuming going forward. And as long as you have a lot of Zonaite in your inventory, you don’t even have to find the parts for the Stones’ preset designs before building them.
