Shots Fired! David Hayter Has A Dig At Ground Zeroes Length

Any gamer worth his salt knows who David Hayter is. Since 1998, Hayter has been the iconic voice of Solid Snake who became a gaming icon after the release of Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation. The game is arguably considered to be the best game on the PlayStation and since then Hayter has appeared in every Metal Gear Solid game. When we heard about Ground Zeroes/The Phantom Pain, it never entered our minds that Hayter wouldn’t be asked to reprise his iconic role…

It came as a massive blow to Metal Gear Solid fans when it was announced that David Hayter would not be voicing Big Boss and that the role had instead gone to Kiefer Sutherland. Sutherland is of course a great actor and personally I think he’ll do a fine job but it just seems so strange that Hideo Kojima didn’t want Hayter to reprise his role. Neither Kojima nor Hayter have really disclosed the exact reasons Hayter was not asked to return but there have been rumours that the two had fallen out after Hayter revealed he didn’t personally agree with the ending to Metal Gear Solid 4. That all seemed like speculation but a recent Tweet by Hayter implies that he and Kojima may not be on the best of terms.

Ground Zeroes Main Story Is Less Than 2 Hours Long

We’re all massively excited for the next installment of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The main game will be The Phantom Pain but Konami are releasing Ground Zeroes as a sort of prologue to The Phantom Pain that they hope will help tide us over until The Phantom Pain is released. This sounded great but a recent article by Game Informer revealed that Ground Zeroes is seriously short.

After getting a test play of a near finished version of Ground Zeroes, Game Informer said that they beat the main story (not including side missions) in under two hours. They said “Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short,..We completed it in just less than two hours.”

MGSV: Ground Zeroes “looks slightly better on PS4 than Xbox One” – Kojima

According to Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, Ground Zeroes “looks slightly better on PS4 than Xbox One”. Recently, Game Informer were lucky enough to have a hands on play test of the upcoming game and noticed that the PS4 version looked a little better than the Xbox One version. Hideo Kojima apparently then confirmed this feeling when he said that the PS4 graphics were slightly better than the Xbox One’s.

Game Informer were impressed by the graphics regardless and stated that “Kojima Productions’ hard work under the hood pays off in the graphics department,”. They went on to praise the Fox engines impressive lighting and said that the environmental destruction was excellent when they fired an RPG at a watchtower.

Ground Zeroes Will Feature Bonus Phantom Pain DLC

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will have some exclusive bonus DLC in Japan. These bonuses will be DLC for the follow up game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The bonuses will be available via certain Japanese retailers, for instance getting the game from Geo will give gamers a special weapon for The Phantom Pain, whilst buying the game from Tsutaya will give players access to a special Mother Base staff member. Whilst these bonuses are only announced for Japan it’s a fair bet to expect something similar will come to the West.
