The 7 best hidden items you must find in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Getting geared for free.

I am such a sucker for getting incredibly sidetracked in RPG games and ending up completely losing track of what I was supposed to be doing.

Often, I end up stupidly overpowered and returning to the feeble early-game core missions as a glowing juggernaut. Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been fantastic for this, and I have found tons of amazing hidden items you have to collect for your character.

Hidden items and gear in Dragon’s Dogma 2

These range from early-game starting loot to some hidden goldmines in the later game.

Waterfall Cave

This location can be found early on, right by the Borderwatch Outpost. Simply head up the road to the north until you find the Waterfall Cave. Now, be aware that there are a few enemies at the entrance and throughout, but they scale with you and can be defeated. Make your way through the cave, and you can find.

  • Wakestone
  • Travelstone
  • Seekers Token
  • Onyx
  • Pelt Flayers (Theif)

Be aware that there are two floors to this cave. You can access the second floor by heading to the bottom right and destroying a fake wall.

Black Matter (Warrior Weapon)

If you’re playing as a Warrior in Dragon’g Dogma 2, you’ll probably want to get your hands on this hidden hammer. It is an absolute tool of destruction with fantastic base stats. You can find it by heading to the Ancient Battleground, a castle north of Checkpoint Rest Town. Defeat the Cyclops there and open the chest to receive this hidden Dragon’s Dogma 2 weapon.

Anathema (Sorcerer Weapon)

If you want a weapon for your Sorcerer that delivers big damage and also silences foes, grab the Anathema Staff. It delivers 312 base damage and will silence other mages, which is a huge bonus when fighting enemies.

It can easily be missed while doing the A New Godsway mission. You will find this hidden staff on the second floor of the Dragonsbreath Tower. Make sure to explore this location thoroughly so as not to miss this hidden item.

Marcher’s Armour (Armour)

This is some early-game armor that can be bought but can also be found. It is fantastic armor that can be worn by all classes and will carry you through many levels before becoming obsolete. To find this, you need to have access to Vernworth and head to the Castle Gaol Tower. On the 1st basement floor, you will find a chest containing this hidden armor set in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The Exalted (Fighter Weapon)

If you’re playing through Dragon’s Dogma 2 as a Fighter, then you should go out of your way to find The Exalted. This hidden weapon can be found deep in the south of Bakbattahl in a location called Drabnir’s Grotto. You will have to head to the 1st basement floor, where you will find a chest containing this one-handed mace.

What sets this apart from the rest, besides hitting great damage and Magick, is its imbuement with light. There are no other one-handed weapons that have this light damage, so it is one to grab.

Medusan Spellbow (Archer Weapon)

The Medusan Spellbow can be easily missed if you aren’t paying attention. During the end of the A New Godsway mission, an NPC will mention a shrine guarded by a monster. The area is called Caliginous Depths and will be marked on your map. Head this way and defeat the legendary Medusa to receive this hidden Dragon’s Dogma 2 item.

What makes this bow so special is its high XP output. It will provide you with way more XP than any other weapon in the game.

Daughter of the Evening

This is one of the best early-game shields you can find in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, grabbing it is a pretty precise situation. First of all, you will need to wait until you have passed the Coronation part of the core storyline. Then, make your way to the Vaults in the castle of Vernworth. Usually, these doors are locked. However, come sunset, and specifically as sunset, the door is wide open. You can then head in and loot this hidden item from the chests inside.
