Darktide Performance Update new weapons

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide update adds new weapons and fixes this week

An ogryn-sized update.

The fifth community update for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is coming on December 14, and with it comes some new weapons as well as tweaks to the game’s various systems. But one of the bigger problems affecting Darktide at the moment is performance, which this update will hopefully iron out. The full list of patch notes will arrive soon.

For now, Darktide players can check out Fatshark’s Steam Community post. It’s here that the developer outlines what players can expect later this week. And Fatshark is well aware of the work that needs to go into the game, stating “we are not fully satisfied and still have work to do.” Darktide‘s upcoming update is the biggest it’s had so far, and we’ll hopefully see plenty of performance and gameplay fixes arrive with it.

New update brings weapons and fixes to Darktide

Let’s get the fun stuff out of the way first. The December 14 update will add two new weapons to the game. First is the Indignatus Mk IVe Crusher, and with it is the Achlys Mk I Power Maul. Both of these weapons sound pretty powerful. Of course, the only way to test that is to try them out on the hordes later in the week.

Beyond new weapons and fixes, the update for Darktide introduces a big change to the crafting system. ‘Refine Item’ will let you replace one perk on a Curio or Weapon, but you can only choose one slot to swap. This should give players more control over their build. But this is still only a step forward, with more changes to come later.

Another addition coming in the next Darktide update includes private matches. As for solo play, it’s still being worked on and should come in a later update. Elsewhere, there are changes incoming for Commodore’s Vestures. A 2,400 Aquilas pack and a 100 Aquilas pack will soon be available. The post also states that other functionalities of the store will change over time. So, Commodore’s Vestures could have different uses in the future. Penances are also going to undergo a change that makes them less frustrating for players.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a promising successor to Vermintide 2, but it needs plenty of work. Hopefully, most of the performance issues and bugs are squashed in the next update for Darktide. But beyond that there could also be plenty of attention needed in other areas. Either way, Darktide is still a fun time. And it could be even better with a few months of updates and support. For now, stay tuned for the next Darktide on December 14.
