Modern Warfare 3: Vortex Game Mode, Explained

Picture this. It’s the summer of 2010, you just bought the new Call of Duty Black Ops, and after a session of Gun Game mode in Multiplayer, you venture yourself – while leaving any horror game fear behind – into the zombies mode. After some rounds with your friends, you visit the Mystery Box, and then, all of a sudden, a small red gun appears. You don’t know it, but you just picked one of the most iconic guns in Call of Duty history. The Ray Gun is not only back in Modern Warfare 3 and its Zombies mode, but now it will make its first Multiplayer debut in the new Vortex game mode. Exciting, right? Let’s continue.

This is a limited-time (LTM) free-for-all mode in which players will spawn in either Satan’s Quarry, Sporeyard, or Tetanus, which are remixed Multiplayer maps. One of the Operators will spawn with the powerful Ray Gun, while the rest of them will use regular weapons. If one Operator kills the Ray Gun user, he will receive the Ray Gun. The one Operator that reaches the kill limit will win. While the Ray Gun surely is powerful and is a one-shot one-kill guarantee, imagine being cornered by the rest of the Operators. That will certainly mean your demise and that of your winning aspirations.

So, are you as excited as I am? Well, I love the match types that go out of the ordinary. While Modern Warfare 3 has experienced a rough release, I think they might be on the right track to correct the issues in the game. Let’s just hope we get a No Man’s Sky situation over here.
