While searching for Rollers in this guide, I have to admit, I found it harder to do than I remember when starting out. That said, to find Rollers quickly, all you need to do is run around the Grassland, Desert, and Frostland biomes.

The best place I’ve found for Rollers is caves. Every time I enter a cave, there are multiple Rollers — and this is true for every Roller type in every biome. To find a cave, look for a medium-sized rock mound. Once you recognize what caves look like, you’ll see them more frequently around the map.

The pro tip I have to offer as far as finding Rollers goes is to look for rocks with greenery on them. I won’t lie, Rollers are generally hard to find as is, but to make things easier, look for rocks with green on the top.

In my experience, running around any of the three biomes results in Rollers finding you. So, keep running around a biome and, eventually, a Roller will appear.

In all honesty, I died far too many times to Rollers before I learned the best strategy to defeat them. Once you learn this, you’ll never get defeated by a Roller again (except when you’re trying to run away and they literally steamroll you).

To never get beaten by a Roller again, all you need to do is use a Shield. To craft a Shield, you need one Cord and five Planks (and we have guides to help you get both those items).

With a Shield equipped to your off-hand, hold it up when the Roller charges you. They’ll hit your Shield and bounce onto their back which makes them vulnerable to attacks. This is the easiest and quickest way to defeat a Roller.
