Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, or Yakuza 8, as many fans are referring to it, is perhaps the most pivotal title the series has released to this point. Concluding the Kiryu Kazuma story, alongside adding new layers to Ichiban, is all trick tightrope walk. However, players will be able to take control of numerous characters during battle, which we’re going to outline below.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Who are the playable characters
As the series has pivoted towards the standard JRPG turn-based combat formula for the two most recent titles, the game has also evolved its combat in a few ways.
Taking control of other characters besides the main character during battle has opened new ways for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio to explore new heights and give players a new sense of combat for these titles. Infinite Wealth will be much the same, as the game has already showcased numerous characters we can control in combat.
Of course, Kiryu Kazuma and Ichiban Kasuga are the two focal points of the game, but they will have some handy allies to fight alongside, including the following.
- Yu Nanba
- Koichi Adachi
- Saeko Mukoda
- Tianyou Zhao
- Joon-gi Han
- Seonhee/Seong-hui
- Goro Majima
- Taiga Saejima
- Daigo Dojima
- Jo Sawashiro
During Like a Dragon, players got to try their hand in combat with all of these characters throughout the game. One notable aspect of Infinite Wealth is the dynamic in combat that Kiryu offers. We mean this in the sense that during certain moments, he’ll be able to break out of the turn-based combat and deploy his unique fighting style we all know and love.

Besides these characters, we can also expect to meet some other characters throughout the world that Infinite Wealth is bound to take us on.
One note, however, is the notion that we can speculate that we’ll only be able to roam the world as Kiryu Kazuma and Ichiban Kasuga, which makes sense given they’re the series protagonists.
Other notable characters players can expect to see include Kaoru Sayama and Kaoru Sayama, some names players might recognize from other installments within the Yakuza series.
