Will Payday 3 Support Denuvo?

Players rejoice!

Gamers can be an argumentative bunch and rarely see eye-to-eye on anything. However, a few topics seem unanimously agreed on, and one of those is Denuvo. More specifically, how most players don’t want it in their games. The inclusion of Denuvo DRM is always a contentious issue, so let me answer the question: will Payday 3 support Denuvo?

Will Payday 3 Support Denuvo?

The Payday 3 developers have confirmed that Denuvo is not in Payday 3. The announcement was made on X on September 15, 2023, and is featured on the official FAQ page. This is good news, and it seems the developer’s stance has recently shifted on its inclusion.

Back in July 2023, a post on Reddit highlighted that Denuvo was listed for the Steam version of the game, to the dismay of the player base. Along with the September announcement on X, the developers have responded on Reddit to clear up any confusion. The post is short and sweet and simply reads,

“Hello heisters,
We want to inform you that Denuvo is no longer in PAYDAY 3.
We look forward to seeing you in New York City!
Happy heisting!”

At the time of writing, the Reddit post has 2.8K upvotes, and the comment section is flooded with praise.

Some users are still unhappy with Payday 3’s ‘always online’ requirement, but that’s a story for another time.

What is Denuvo used for?

Denuvo is an anti-tamper and digital rights system by Denuvo Software. It’s primarily used as an anti-piracy measure under the guise that it maximizes genuine sales at launch. Sounds like a win-win, right? Well, not exactly.

Why do PC gamers dislike Denuvo?

Denuvo Support and DRM, in general, have been linked to poor performance on numerous titles. I won’t link to any specific videos, but there are many side-by-side comparisons of cracked titles running against their DRM counterparts.

Some of these videos are shocking, as they often show the cracked version running better than the official one. This leads to frustrated players wondering why they are paying top dollar for a product when the pirated version runs better.

For many, this is the sticking point with Denuvo. The benefits seem to satisfy the publisher rather than the consumer. Payday 3 has secured a win with the player base with its stance on Denuvo, but what about Microtransactions? Check out our article on how they feature in the upcoming title.
