Hogwarts Legacy: How to wear gear earned from challenges

Be the most fashionable wizard at Hogwarts.

As soon as you unlock the Wizard’s Field Guide in Hogwarts Legacy, you can receive unique gear by completing challenges. But as you earn rewards, you’ll notice they don’t appear in your gear inventory. Why is that? This is a troubling but easy issue to solve, although the game doesn’t tell you the answer outright. Here’s how you can wear the gear earned from completing challenges in Hogwarts Legacy.

Pressing the ‘Esc key’ will bring you to your Wizard’s Field Guide. Once you know you’ve completed a challenge, go to the Challenges section. Then find the challenge you finished, and click on the gear item to receive it. Once that’s done, you can wear the item, but finding where to put it on can be difficult on your first playthrough.

One of the first challenges I completed rewarded me with Legendary Gloves. The problem was that these gloves didn’t appear when I tried to change the gloves I wore. Instead, you will need to do as follows, which allows for transmogrification, a mechanic that allows you to change the appearance of a gear piece without losing its stats. If you want to learn more about this mechanic, follow this in-depth guide on how ‘transmog’ works in Hogwarts Legacy.

When you’re on the Gear screen, hover over any article of clothing until it shows a pop-up box. In the bottom left corner of this box, it tells you that you can change its appearance. You can do this by pressing the ‘F key,’ which brings you to the Change Appearance screen.

The good thing about Hogwarts Legacy is that you can destroy or sell gear you don’t want anymore, but the appearance is still available to use. The only downside is that you have a limited amount of gear available to hold. So make sure to destroy or sell any pieces of low-level gear that are clogging up your gear spaces.

In this screen, you have all your hard-earned gear from doing challenges in Hogwarts Legacy at your disposal. Gear from challenges are only available in the Change Appearance ‘transmog’ screen, which is something I had to figure out myself.
