Can you save the Dazed Woman in the Pod in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Don't worry Dazed Woman in distress, I'm here to save you.

In the Prologue of Baldur’s Gate 3 which takes place on the Nautiloid Ship, you’ll find a Dazed Woman trapped in a Pod. This guide will discuss how you can save both Shadowheart, the woman in the Pod wrapped in red energy, and the Dazed Woman in the room to the east.

After entering the room east of where you find Shadowheart trapped in a Pod, you find another nameless woman, named the Dazed Woman in this guide, also trapped in a Pod. Sadly, from my own personal experience and everything I’ve found online, there is no way to save the Dazed Woman.

Regardless of your class, Arcane check, or character, there’s nothing you can do to save the Dazed Woman. People online have tried multiple classes to see if there is a specific dialogue option that saves her. With a successful Arcane check, interacting with the Sigil above the button gives you more information but doesn’t unlock an option to save the Dazed Woman.

If you push the button on the console at the back of the room, you’ll transform the Dazed Woman into a Mindflayer. The fate of the Dazed Woman is in your hands, but either way, she can’t be saved and she doesn’t matter to the story. She never appears again and is here in the Prologue to show you, again, that your choices have consequences in this game.

If you’ve found your way to this guide to free the other woman trapped in a Pod, one who is named Shadowheart, I’ll help you out. Unlike the unfortunate case with the Dazed Woman, you can free Shadowheart in BG3. Here’s how:

  1. Go into the room to the east.
  2. Loot the Eldritch Rune off the Dead Thrall at the back of the room.
  3. Return to Shadowheart’s Pod.
  4. Interact with the console to the right of Shadowheart’s Pod.
  5. Select “Insert the rune into the socket.”
  6. Select “Place your hand on the console.”
  7. Select “Will the pod open.”
  8. With a successful roll, you’ll free Shadowheart.

Freeing Shadowheart does help you in the fight ahead and will put you on the right path to romance her. If you don’t free her, she’ll eventually be findable on the beach just like the rest of the Origin characters. Just be sure you worth through the BG3 Act 1 checklist before heading into Act 2.
