With the rapidly approaching final season of Destiny 2 getting closer every day, The Season of the Wish is finally bringing together its own story. With the leaks and reveals of the Closer to The Heart quests, there are a few things we can glean about the direction Destiny 2 is planning to take.
Closer to The Heart Destiny 2 questline leak
The most glaring pointer to the ending of The Season of The Wish is the newest Triumph that has appeared. The Triumph titled Closer to The Heart has been released in preparation for the new quests coming up. We can expect the final missions of the Season of The Wish to drop around the end of April or the beginning of May.
The newest Triumph has nothing to do with current missions in the game. So, it can only be attributed to the new ones coming up. The name alone tells us a lot about what we can expect, knowing where we are in the Destiny 2 story so far.
What to expect from Closer to The Heart
The Witness has caused havoc in the Destiny 2 universe by opening a portal and stealing the Traveller. Of course, Ghosts are still able to pull from the power of the light to give life to the guardians. However, as mentioned in the game, it feels like it’s coming from somewhere much deeper, and further away than before.
The portal that has been opened by The Witness in Destiny 2 is what Season of The Wish has been based around. Now, as we near the end of the season, some large developments have occurred. This has led us to the mission titled Closer to The Heart. The Last Wish has been all about getting someone through that portal and seeing if The Traveller can be saved.
In the most recent developments for Destiny 2, a fifteenth and final wish has been granted by the Riven. This was for the return of her eggs and the saving of her race from extinction. Now, with this wish, Crow has been sent through the portal. Using this problematic character makes the most sense. He and his sister have a special bond. This could allow the rest of the team to follow him wherever the portal leads.
The portal opened by The Witness leads to the “Pale Heart” of The Traveller. Finally, we see where the title of the final Destiny 2 Season of The Wish comes from. The Destiny 2 mission title Closer to The Heart implies that as Crow travels through the portal, so will we. Therefore, I expect the last mission to take part in The Traveller itself.
