Three Guardians In Destiny 2 Lightfall Expansion

When it first launched, some players thought that Destiny 2 was an unnecessary sequel, but developer Bungie has worked hard in the years since to prove that wrong. Destiny 2 has received numerous expansions since its initial release back in 2017, with each one adding substantial new content to look forward to. Now, the latest expansion is on the way. The Lightfall expansion for Destiny 2 has a confirmed release date of February 28, 2023.

The Lightfall news comes from today’s Destiny 2 showcase, which also showed a new trailer for the expansion. The official YouTube description of the showcase reads: “It has arrived. As we prepare for fate to unfold, the people of the Last City look to the stars—to us—for hope. And while we have triumphed in the face of impossible odds before, this time feels different. But if there is to be no escape, our story will be one of courage; one of legends.”

Live service done right

Destiny 2 is an online first-person shooter with strong MMO-like elements. Players can enjoy a large variety of narrative content solo or with friends and compete in PvP modes as well. It’s a game that continues to provide its players with new content, and it seems like Bungie is far from done with it. Bungie stresses that the Lightfall expansion is not the end of Destiny 2. Instead, the developer claims that fans are nearing the end of the Light and Dark saga, which is only the first saga of Destiny’s story. This first saga will be completed after the release of an unannounced chapter that’s set to arrive after the Lightfall expansion.

When it comes to Lightfall itself, players can look forward to a brand-new subclass and a new location in the form of a cyberpunk-looking planet called Neptune. Calus and his Cabal will be the main antagonists of Lightfall alongside a new enemy type called Tormentors. Lore-wise, the Tormentors come from both a race called Cloudstriders and the Black Fleet of pyramid ships. Players will also be able to find a new Darkness power known as Strand, which acts as a grappling hook.

Destiny 2 Lightfall will release on February 28, 2023.
