Destiny 2 players figured out the trick to easily get the top 10% in Nightfall

Wait, this works?!

The Hoverboard is one of the grand prizes in Destiny 2’s Guardian Games. However, it’s locked behind the ‘Drop In’ quest, which has some difficult requirements.

Guardians can either spend days grinding Medallions or try an exceptional score in the Nightfall. Fortunately, players have discovered a few ways to achieve the latter.

Best way to permanently keep the Hoverboard

Clever Guardians have figured out a couple of great ways to reach the top 10% in the Nightfall. I first saw this trick explained by YouTuber KhakisHD. The most effective way to get tons of points is to defeat Champion enemies in a specific way. Instead of just killing them, you can emote in front of them and beat them with a Finisher. It sounds ridiculous, but dispatching Champions this way yields far more points than usual, and these enemies are plentiful in the Nightfall.

Champions are identifiable by their yellow health bars, but it’s worth noting that you won’t get the bonus points if another Guardian kills the target.

As more Guardians figure out this trick, it will become mandatory if you want to hit the top 10%, so take advantage of it while you can. Another great way to score points is to prioritize Multikills with Special weapons. I’ve seen several guns recommended for this, but any arc weapon with Voltshot would help.

I lucked out and got an Indebted Kindness Sidearm from the Warlord’s Ruin Dungeon, which is excellent for rapid kills. Another decent option is the Trinity Ghoul Exotic Bow, which is even better with its Catalyst.

Can I reach the top 10% in the Nightfall solo?

Nightfalls are pretty tough alone, but it can be done, and you don’t have to worry about other players messing up your Emote/Finisher combo. The downside is that Nightfall can be challenging for newer players without decent gear. You have nothing to lose by trying it out, but you may have better luck with a curated squad.

The Guardian Games has a few rewards up for grabs, including the All-Stars Memento. The event is on for a few weeks, so don’t sweat it if you can’t complete Drop In immediately.
