The boss battle against Godrick the Grafted in Elden Ring yields a couple of rewards. One of these is Godrick’s Great Rune, which, unfortunately, has no power at the moment. We’ll have to venture forth just to gain the benefits from this item. Here’s our Elden Ring guide to help you activate Godrick’s Great Rune.

Elden Ring guide – How to activate Godrick’s Great Rune
As cited in our Stormveil Castle walkthrough, there’s a yard area that has a battalion of Exile soldiers. Past that is an Omen monster and the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace. Here’s the thing: if you’re being chased by a dozen mobs, it’s unlikely that you’ve noticed a nearby pathway.
To the east, you should see an Exile operating a ballista while looking at a path leading through a gate. Go there and try to dodge the explosive projectiles being shot your way.
Eventually, you’ll see a courtyard that’s filled with even more Exile soldiers. Our goal here is to go further east all the way to the bridge. However, there are a couple of noteworthy tidbits:
- There’s an Arcane Lion elite that drops a Somber Smithing Stone. This item is used to upgrade unique/special weapons, as opposed to the regular Smithing Stones for gear pieces with boring names (i.e., Longbow or Hammer).
- If you follow the steps leading down, you’ll find a chamber with a lever and some loot. Pulling the lever raises the main gate of Stormveil Castle.
In any case, let’s say you went to Limgrave Tower Bridge. You can pick up a Boltdrake Talisman here (it lowers the lightning damage that you take).
Past this point is a very long causeway that has three Guardian Golems. They’re extremely slow, but their attacks will probably kill you if you’re not careful.
At the end, you’ll find a teleporter, but don’t interact with it yet. Instead, you can jump down the ledges behind it to pick up an Ash-of-War Scarab (headpiece).
Make your way back to the top and touch the portal before the Guardian Golems whack you.
You’ll get teleported to the Divine Tower of Limgrave. Ride the lift and tag the Site of Grace here. At the top, you’ll find a branch that lets you activate the power of Godrick’s Great Rune in Elden Ring.
Note: Godrick’s Great Rune, like all others that you’ll acquire throughout the campaign, can be equipped via an option when you’re resting in a Site of Grace. However, you’ll only gain their effects upon using a Rune Arc consumable item. In the case of Godrick’s Great Rune in Elden Ring, it will boost all attributes by +5 for a temporary duration.
Lastly, don’t forget to return to the Roundtable if you haven’t done so. Finger Reader Enia (the prophet in the Two Fingers chamber) lets you exchange the other key item that Godrick dropped. You can select either of these two:
- Axe of Godrick (greataxe)
- Skill – I Command Thee, Kneel!
- Requirements – Str 34 and Dex 22
- Scaling – Str D and Dex D
- Grafted Dragon (fist)
- Skill – Bear Witness!
- Requirements – Str 20, Dex 14, and Fai 16
- Scaling – Str D, Dex D, and Fai D
Anyway, with these objectives done, it’s time to continue our adventure in Liurnia of the Lakes. However, don’t forget to return to Roundtable Hold. There, you can acquire Rogier’s Rapier from Sorcerer Rogier (he’s at the balcony) and the Arsenal Charm from Nepheli Loux (she’s in one of the hallways). You might also find Roderika here, kickstarting her personal quest where she’d eventually let you upgrade your Spirit Ash Summons.
