It is starting to become a new trend of turning popular television shows into video game experiences. Defiance brought us sci-fi gaming, mixed with real TV events, for an almost unmatched sense of immersion. Now, Falling Skies looks to share the RPG realm this fall by launching on gaming consoles and PC.

Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies,” said Matt Scott, President of Little Orbit.  “We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player.

Not too much is known about the gameplay thus far. The release offers tidbits into weapon customization and “hundreds” of upgrades to unlock. There are also promises of map randomization, which should deliver non-linear and fresh gameplay for those looking for the true survivalist experience. This might be the most appropriate for those looking to wage-war against the Skitters, mechs, and all other malicious, harnessed beings from the show.

Falling Skies is slated for a fall launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and surprisingly, the Nintendo Wii U. There are digital releases slated for Xbox LIVE and PC via Steam.
