Genshin Impact: Eula guide -- Weapons, artifacts, and talents

After having a go at the previous wish banner which featured Zhongli and Yanfei, Genshin Impact players now have a chance to obtain Eula. She's a 5-star claymore-wielding character who uses both Cryo and Physical damage (which means trying to do a rotation can be a little tough to get used to at first). Anyway, here's our Genshin Impact guide to help you with the best weapons, artifacts, and talents for Eula. Lastly, please be reminded that our Eula character guide is a work in progress since she's fairly new. Genshin Impact: Eula's best weapon - Song of Broken Pines vs. other options Let's talk about the best weapons for Eula in Genshin Impact. Song of Broken Pines (Physical damage) - One of the clear-cut winners here is the Song of Broken Pines (seen in the image below). It has a perk called "Millennial Movement," increasing ATK by 16% whenever you land normal or charged attacks. Once you've got four stacks of this buff, you'll gain another buff called "Millennial Movement: Banner-Hymn" for 12 seconds. This increases ATK% and normal attack speed by 20% and 12% respectively. Eula happens to have extremely fast attack animations (for a claymore user), so she'll make the most out of these effects. The major downside is that this weapon is only available via the "Epitome Invocation" weapon banner that's available from today until June 8. Wolf's Gravestone (ATK%) - Wolf's Gravestone is yet another viable option if you already have it. This 5-star claymore adds +20% ATK by default, and hitting an enemy with low health adds an extra temporary ATK boost of 40%. Ideally, this is a weapon used by Diluc or Razor, but Eula can also equip this if you want to try her out. Snow-Tombed Starsilver (Physical damage) - If you don't plan on wasting primogems or cash on the Song of Broken Pines, then the Snow-Tombed Starsilver (seen below) can be used as a free-to-play substitute. You can obtain it by finding the stone tablets in Dragonspine. The weapon has a chance of dropping icicles on enemies if you hit them with normal or charged attacks. The damage is greatly increased if enemies are affected by the Cryo element (which is a given if Eula is active). Prototype Archaic (ATK%) - Another free-to-play option is the Prototype Archaic which is forged by the blacksmith. It provides a chance for normal and charged attacks to deal an additional 300% ATK damage to opponents. The effect can only occur once every 15 seconds, so you won't proc it as often even with Eula's fast stabs and slashes. Serpent Spine (crit rate) - Finally, there's the Serpent Spine which comes from the premium version of the Gnostic Hymn Battle Pass. Every four seconds that Eula is on the field, she'll be able to deal 6% more damage while taking 3% more damage in return. It stacks up to five times and isn't reset when Eula leaves the field, but the stacks will be decreased whenever she gets hit. Anyway, let's go to the next section of our guide so we can talk about Eula's best artifact sets in Genshin Impact. Eula's best artifacts: Pale Flame 4-set vs. Pale Flame and Bloodstained Chivalry vs. Pale Flame/Bloodstained with Noblesse Oblige Let's discuss the best artifact options for Eula in Genshin Impact. First off, there's the Pale Flame artifact set which comes from the Ridge Watch domain. It's also where you'll receive the Tenacity of the Millelith set, perhaps the best option for Zhongli nowadays. The Pale Flame artifact set has the following bonuses: Two-piece bonus - +25% Physical damage. Four-piece bonus - When an elemental skill hits an opponent, ATK is increased by 9% for seven seconds. This can stack up to two times and can be triggered every 0.3 seconds. Once two stacks are reached, the aforementioned two-piece bonus is increased by 100%. What makes the four-piece Pale Flame artifact set great for Eula is the bonus to Physical damage. It's the element, or non-element rather, that determines the DPS output of her burst/ult. Speaking of Physical damage and bursts, you can also try out these two combos: 2x Pale Flame and 2x Bloodstained Chivalry - You'll gain an extra 25% Physical damage from Bloodstained Chivalry. As such, you're looking at a 50% Physical damage bonus from Bloodstained and Pale Flame. You're mostly losing out on the ATK% proc from a four-piece Pale Flame setup, but this might be viable in case that new artifact set didn't have ideal rolls. 2x Pale Flame or Bloodstained Chivalry and 2x Noblesse Oblige - This setup grants you a 25% Physical damage increase, along with the additional 25% elemental burst damage from the Noblesse Oblige. Artifact stats: Main stats - ATK% (sands) and Physical damage (goblet). For the circlet, you can go with crit rate since Eula's ascension grants extra crit damage. Sub-stats - Prioritize crit damage, crit rate, and ATK%. Anyway, let's discuss Eula's talents and constellations in the next part of our Genshin Impact guide. Eula's talent priorities So, how exactly do Eula's talents work in Genshin Impact? Normal Attack: Favonius Bladework - Edel - This is basically just Eula's normal attack combos. As mentioned earlier, she has a ridiculously fast normal attack speed for a claymore user. Heck, you can even think of her as a sword-wielding character because of how quickly she'll swipe at people with that giant sword. However, you shouldn't prioritize this over your burst. Icetide Vortex - Eula's elemental skill has a couple of uses. First, the quick press of the "E" button deals Cryo damage while giving her a stack of Grimheart (boosted defense and interruption resistance). Grimheart stacks up to two times and you can only gain a stack every 0.3 seconds. Then, there's the charged version when you hold "E." This will deal AoE Cryo damage to enemies that are in front of her. When Grimheart stacks are consumed, additional Cryo damage is dealt to opponents via an Icewhirl Brand. Likewise, the Grimheart consumption will lower the Cryo and Physical resistances of targets. Glacial Illumination - Finally, there's Eula's elemental burst/ultimate. This is a wide arcing swipe that deals AoE Cryo damage. Another key component here is the Lightfall Sword that spawns when the burst is used. While the Lightfall Sword is around, damaging foes with Eula's normal attacks, elemental skills, and the burst itself will grant a stacking charge. Then, after seven seconds, the Lightfall Sword will explode to unleash massive Physical damage based on the number of charges. Because of this mechanic, the Glacial Illimunation burst should be Eula's talent priority since leveling it up also increases the Lightfall Sword's base damage and additional damage per charge. You should also try to stack more charges within those seven seconds by hitting as often with your offensive capabilities. Oh, and don't forget that the Lightfall Sword will automatically explode if Eula leaves the field. Other talents Roiling Rime - If you have two Grimheart stacks when you use Icetide Vortex's charged skill, a Shattered Lightfall Sword will spawn. It'll explode for 50% of the basic Physical damage dealt by a Lightfall sword spawned by the burst. Wellspring of War-Lust - When you cast your Glacial Illumination burst, the cooldown of Icetide Vortex is reset and Eula gains a Grimheart stack. Aristocratic Introspection - When Eula crafts talent materials, she has a 10% chance to gain double the product. Note: Eula's talent leveling materials include hilichurl masks, Resistance booklets, and the Dragon Lord's Crown item from Azhdaha. Constellations Eula has extremely useful constellations (i.e., C1 and C2) that will truly make her even more of an offensive powerhouse. Of course, trying to get these will be very costly and expensive: C1: Tidal Illusion - Each time the Icetide Vortex's Grimheart stacks are consumed, Eula's Physical damage is increased by 30% for six seconds. Each stack consumed adds to the duration of this effect by six seconds up to a maximum of 18 seconds. C2: Lady of Seafoam - Decreases the 10-second cooldown of Icetide Vortex's holding/charged skill. It'll simply have the quick press' cooldown of four seconds. C3: Lawrence Pedigree - +3 levels for your elemental skill; maximum level is 15. C4: The Obstinacy of One's Inferiors - +25% Lightfall Sword damage against opponents with less than 50% health. C5: Chivalric Quality - +3 levels for your elemental burst; maximum level is 15. C6: Noble Obligation - All Lightfall Swords created by the elemental burst have five energy stacks already. All hits with normal attacks, elemental skills, and the elemental burst have a 50% chance to add an extra stack of energy. Anyway, let's go to the next part of our guide to discuss Eula's character ascension materials. Character ascension materials Eula's character ascension materials can be found all over Teyvat. Here they are: Ominous Mask - Dropped by hilichurl enemies. Shivada Jade - Dropped by the Cryo Regisvine and Cryo Hypostasis; purchased from Souvenir Shop; higher-tier versions can be crafted by an alchemist NPC. Crystalline Bloom - Dropped by the Cryo Hypostasis. Dandelion Seeds - Found all over Mondstadt. You can refer to our Dandelion Seed farming guide for more information. Anyway, let's talk about what you can expect when Eula is in your Genshin Impact team. Genshin Impact: Eula character summary and gameplay tips We've discussed Eula's weapons, artifacts, and talents in-depth already, but is she actually viable in your Genshin Impact comps? Okay, to be frank, Eula is very powerful. However, she's also a "selfish carry" main DPS who'll be extremely reliant on a full rotation. The reason for this is due to stacking her Lightfall Sword energy charges while debuffing enemies with Grimheart. Ideally, a full rotation should go like this: Elemental skill (press) - Grants 1x Grimheart. Elemental burst - Spawns the Lightfall Sword, resets the elemental skill cooldown, and grants 1x Grimheart stack. Elemental skill (press) - Grants 1x Grimheart. However, since you already have two stacks, this wouldn't matter. This is mostly to hit more enemies for the Lightfall Sword's stacks. Elemental skill (hold) - Consumes 2x Grimheart stacks and debuffs enemies. Note 1: This rotation should be used after you've unlocked the "Wellspring of War-Lust" talent (after ascending her past level 70). Note 2: Don't forget to keep using your normal attack swipes to hit mobs once the Lightfall Sword appears. Normal attacks will grant additional energy charges that boost the Lightfall Sword's explosion. If you time everything right, the Lightfall Sword should explode after seven seconds (after you've consumed the Grimheart stacks). In conjunction with all the energy stacks you've obtained, along with foes debuffed by the Grimheart consumption, you'll notice the massive Physical damage once the Lightfall Sword goes boom. You can hit for roughly 180,000 to 215,000 damage depending on your weapons and artifacts. In any case, since we're highly reliant on the Lightfall Sword's explosion, we're going to need artifacts and weapons that can exponentially boost Physical damage further (not Cryo damage). Lastly, the above implies that you should avoid switching to another character while Eula's in the middle of her rotation. Doing so can severely ruin your timing and the DPS output. At best, you can pre-cast skills from other characters such as Fischl, Albedo, or Xiangling (and other Pyro characters for the Melt proc).
