With the return of Darkest Dungeon, we also see the return of glittering gold, trinkets, and baubles — paid for in blood. Now these trinkets and baubles have a more integral use in the game. They work as in-game currency and as combat variables for your chosen unlucky characters. Once you equip Trinkets in Darkest Dungeon 2, your players receive the boons and buffs that come equipped with them. However, in typical Darkest Dungeon fashion, the method for doing this isn’t instantly evident.
How to equip Trinkets Darkest Dungeon 2

Trinkets can change a whole team’s build; some trinkets work with others, and some very much do not. When working my way through the opening stages of Darkest Dungeon 2, I collected a lot of trinkets, but at no point had I been told how to equip them. As a result, I found myself lacking as I strove through the Lovecraftian horrors.
I thought that perhaps I had to be in an inn or maybe back at the base to equip Trinkets in Darkest Dungeon 2, but it turned out that, with a little keyboard smashing, it was a lot more simple. Just bring up your character screens at any point outside of an encounter and get geared up.
Bringing up the Character screen is as simple as pressing the ‘C’ button on your keyboard. You can also pull up your inventory with ‘I’ to view your available trinkets and other goodies collected along your way. Finally, pick the trinkets you need and pop them in the relevant slots.
3 Types of Trinkets
Not all Trinkets in Darkest Dungeon 2 are the same. Some are General and available to anyone, others are class-specific, some are Unforgettable Trinkets, and the last type are Special.
- General Trinkets – These are available to anyone. They are found everywhere and come in three rarities.
- Hero Trinkets – These are found randomly throughout a journey and often come with a boon. They are all class-specific.
- Unforgettable Trinkets – Any Hero can wear these trinkets. They are found in Cultist encounters and can are best worn as a pair.
- Special Trinkets – These are available to use on any hero and have some of the best buffs in the game. They can only be found in Academic Studies.
