When you receive this warning, your spacesuit is trying to tell you that its protective shield on your suit is deteriorating. This is typically due to extreme environments and harsh weather conditions. How you can fix the Suit Protection Depleted warning in Starfield is by finding safe shelter from the extreme environmental conditions.

You may have showed up on a planet with terribly hot or cold temperatures. Or perhaps you stumbled upon a corrosive environment, with radiation seeping into your suit. If you check the stats on your spacesuit, you’ll see different levels of suit protection. It may be good for Thermal protection, but not Physical or Radiation, as an example. The best solution when caught in a bad environment with the Suit Protection Depleted warning is to retreat to a safe place.

Typically, this means going back into your spaceship, or inside a secure building. Then, once you’re safe from the elements that were harming your suit, check the suit’s stats. You can identify what type of harm was eating away at your suit, and decide how to proceed. Perhaps you need to purchase a new suit with better stats, or you can upgrade suit parts at the Spacesuit Workbench. There, you can upgrade your suit, helmet, and even your pack.

If you do end up getting damaged after ignoring the warnings, you’ll get hit with afflictions. You may experience Frostbite in freezing temperatures, Burn in the extreme heat, or gain other serious injuries. Luckily, there are certain medical treatments to fix things like Lung Damage or Joint Pain. I would advise you to always carry around items like Bandages or Antibiotic Paste, health items that can cure your afflictions.

With the correct gear, you should be able to weather the elements—or ignore them completely. I wouldn’t advise walking in an area with corrosive matter anyway, but if it’s just extreme temperatures, you may be able to handle it.
