How to fix “Unable to Find Pawn” error in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Where all the pawns?

Pawns, NPCs that aid you on your journey, are a standout feature of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Their constant chatter can be annoying sometimes, but thankfully you can turn that off. If you get tired of your Pawn, you can hire another player’s Pawn — which may result in an error that reads “Unable to find pawn.” to fix this error, read on.

There are a few reasons you might be getting this error. The biggest reason? Pawns are only searchable in the Rift upon reaching level 10 and higher. A note for this tip is that the class you’re looking for such as Theif might show up because not many players have made pawns with the Theif class.

You also may be looking for a pawn on another platform. Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t feature cross-progression, so you won’t be able to find pawns that were created on a different platform. For example, if you’re playing on PC and looking for a pawn that’s on the PS5 version of the game, they may not appear because they’re locked to their platform

Another reason is that the game itself is facing a myriad of technical issues right now, as seems to be customary for any newly released game nowadays. This could be one of them, so if you’ve followed what I mentioned above and you’re still getting the error, you may have to wait for Capcom to resolve the issue with a patch sometime down the line, hopefully soon.

Pawns are customizable even after you’ve made them. Find out here how to change their Vocation.
