How to play Third-Person in Cyberpunk 2077

Want to see your beautiful creation in action?

Like most games, Cyberpunk 2077 will have you slaving away creating the perfect character, only for you to hardly ever see it whilst playing. Most games do have a third-person feature that allows you to see your mighty creation in the heat of battle or while having a drink at the local bar. Can the same be said for Cyberpunk 2077, however?

Can you play third-person in Cyberpunk 2077?

Unfortunately, there is no native way to play third-person in Cyberpunk 2077. The only time you can have a third-person view is while driving, and that reverts right after leaving the car.

For whatever reason, CD Projekt RED didn’t want their players going third-person. With the amount of intricate detail that goes into your character, it is such a shame that we hardly get to see it, with the only times we can look upon our curated faces being through a mirror or if we’re changing clothes.

Hope is not all lost, however, as there is a particular mod that helps players where the game fails.

How to go third-person in Cyberpunk 2077

To play third-person in Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll need the assistance of the community. There is a mod out there, created by sarunama, that allows you to go third-person. The JB – TPP Mod allows players to do exactly that.

It is hosted on Nexus mods and has over 10,000 endorsements. Nexus mods is a trusted mod provider, although it goes without saying that you should still be careful of harmful content and malware.

Note that it isn’t overly complex or over-the-shoulder, but it is a work in progress, so keep your eyes on it as it develops.

Will Cyberpunk 2077 ever get a third-person mode?

The short answer is: most likely not. With Phantom Liberty and Cyberpunk 2.0 being released, and them not having implemented a third-person mode with it, it seems that this feature is a purposeful omission from the game. The only way I can see them implementing this perspective change would be in another game-changing update, which is also very unlikely as Cyberpunk 2.0 should have changed everything they wanted to change with the game.

I hope you enjoyed our guide on helping you see your magnum opus in Cyberpunk 2077, even if it is with the help of mods. For even more Cybperpunk 2077 how-tos, PC Invasion has you covered.
