How to travel distance while sliding continuously with icy feet in Fortnite

Slide around to complete this Winterfest quest.

Winterfest is here in Fortnite and one of the new event quests requires you to travel distance while sliding continuously with icy feet. This quest is seemingly bugged for some players, but thankfully, there’s an easy fix.

How to Slide With Icy Feet in Fortnite

The icy feet mechanic has been around in Fortnite for a long time, and you can freeze your feet the same way that you’ve done in the past. The best way to get icy feet is to use the newly unvaulted Icy Grappler, which has unlimited uses and grants you icy feet whenever you land.

You can also use a Snowman or a Snowy Flopper as well, but you’ll have much less control over when and where you get icy feet with these methods. If you’re trying to do this challenge, the Icy Grappler is the best way hands down since it has unlimited durability and you can wait until you find a quiet place away from enemy players to start working on the quest.

Once you have the Icy Grappler, just launch yourself into the air and then slide once you hit the ground. The wording of this quest has confused some people (myself included initially), so make sure that you’re physically sliding by pressing the crouch button. Simply sliding across the ground on your icy feet isn’t enough.

Again, you need to press the crouch button and perform a normal slide as if you didn’t have icy feet. Because you do have icy feet, however, you will keep sliding past the point you would normally stop, which is how you’ll end up performing a slide that’s at least 50 meters for this quest.

To make things easier on yourself, find a flat stretch of land and ping a short distance in front of you. Adjust your position until you’re 50 meters away from your ping. That’s your sliding target. Sprint, and then press the crouch button to slide. Once you make it to your marker with the help of your icy feet, the quest will be completed.

How to Fix the Icy Feet Sliding Quest Not Working in Fortnite

If this quest isn’t working for you, then make sure you’re sliding by pressing the crouch button and not just letting the ice do the work. Standing still and sliding around on your icy feet is not what this quest is asking for despite what some people think at first. You also have to do all 50 meters in a single slide, which is where the ping trick described above comes in handy.

If you’re absolutely sure you’re doing everything the right way and you’re sliding for much more than 50 meters just to be safe, then you may be one of the unlucky few who’s experiencing a bug with this quest. Many Fortnite players have said that the quest is bugged for them, so if you’re in that camp, you’ll unfortunately have to wait until Epic Games issues a hotfix to address the issue.

On the bright side, there’s still a lot of other stuff to work on during Fortnite’s Winterfest event. There are even free daily Winterfest presents to claim too, including free skins and other cosmetic items.
