Although farming and life simulators are fun to play on your own, they’re even better with a friend. So you’re probably wondering whether Coral Island is multiplayer or not.
Now that Coral Island has left Early Access and is available in full release, fans are wondering whether they can play Coral Island with others. Here’s what we know.
Coral Island: Does it support co-op multiplayer?
There is some good news and bad news. The bad news is that unfortunately Coral Island currently does not have multiplayer. But the good news is that Stairway Games said that it plans to include multiplayer in the future.
While Coral Island was in Early Access for a year, it was a strictly single-player experience. It’s a farming life sim inspired by games like Stardew Valley where you can grow crops, care for animals, and romance the locals. But back in 2020, a developer posted an FAQ answering this multiplayer question:
Yes, we hit our Stretch Goal in Kickstarter and the initial plan is for Multiplayer to be part of patch update after the Full Release. The first step would be to implement an Island visit sometime this year (2022) and we will update it thoroughly, until the full co-op/Multiplayer we have promised.Jeremiah (developer)
Stairway Games initially planned to bring co-op multiplayer alongside Coral Island’s full release. But unfortunately, game development doesn’t always end up the way you plan it to. Now that Coral Island 1.0 version is out, fans may be disappointed to not see any multiplayer available yet.
Since the developers were planning to initially bring multiplayer co-op with the full release, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they’re still working on it. Perhaps expect an announcement for this feature in the near future, but this is just speculation based on old FAQs.
Coral Island is available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
