Should you kill or persuade Brogan in Starfield?

To kill or persuade Brogan... Decisions, decisions...

After clearing out a settlement of raiders near the start of Starfield, you’ll reach the roof and be given the decision to kill or persuade Brogan. Like all decisions in Starfield, you should pick the decision that makes sense for the player you’re roleplaying. That said, here is advice on whether you should kill or persuade Brogan in Starfield.

Kill or persuade Brogan in Starfield, explained

Regardless of the build you’re playing as in Starfield, I recommend you try to persuade Brogan.

Brogan is the first time in Starfield that you get to try out the persuade mechanic. And, if you need help, you should check out our How to Persuade guide.

I chose to persuade Brogan and then I killed him, so you can do both. In fact, I’ve found that you get more XP for killing than you do persuading, so doing both is the best thing you can do.

If you want to successfully persuade Brogan, then I suggest sticking to the yellow and green dialogue options. Green dialogue options have the highest chance of succeeding, but they give you the least amount of points. Persuasion in Starfield is a delicate dance between getting points in the allotted time by picking safe options but also trying not to run out of time without getting the right amount of points.

If you want to kill Brogan, I say go ahead. The only caution I’d give is you should at least try out the persuasion option. Even if you aren’t going to use persuasion for the rest of the game, checking it out is harmless. Especially if you’re going to kill Brogan anyway.

Persuade or kill Brogan — the choice is yours. The outcome is the exact same regardless of your decision. Now that you know what you’re gonna do, you should learn how to farm credits fast to set yourself up for the rest of the game.
